Biography

2013 (Junior): Betancourt played in eight games for the Aggies, rushing for 415 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 4.5 yards a carry.  He also caught 13 receptions for 106 yards and one touchdown, averaging 8.2 yards per catch.  Betancourt rushed for a career-high 139 yards against I-25 rival New Mexico (Oct. 5).  He followed that performance with 103 yards rushing on 17 carries against Rice (Oct. 19).  Versus No. 13 UCLA (Sept. 21) he rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown.  He scored his first career-rushing touchdown against Minnesota (Sept. 7).  Against I-10 rival UTEP (Sept. 14), Betancourt caught three passes for a career-high of 72 yards and his first career touchdown reception.  Betancourt missed the final four games of the season due to a foot injury.
2012 (Sophomore): Betancourt played in three games for the Aggies in 2012 as a kick returner.  He returned two kicks on the season, both against Idaho (Oct. 6), for 25 yards including a 20-yard return.
2011 (Freshman): Betancourt played in five games for the Aggies in 2011 at the running back position and on special teams. He rushed for 24 yards on six carries on the year, including a game-high 23 yards against New Mexico (Oct.1).
High School: Betancourt played running back for the Mayfield High School Trojans, helping his team to a New Mexico State Championship in 2010. As a senior he was named first team all-tournament (New Mexico State Championship), first team all-district running back, first team all-state running back (New Mexico) and was selected to the New Mexico North/South All-Star Team. During the 2010 season, Betancourt rushed 1,334 yards and broke three Mayfield High School football records: most rushing yards in a football game, most rushing yards per carry and rushing yards per game. He also had 12 touchdowns. During his junior year as a Trojan, Betancourt rushed for 1,300 yards, 96.2 yards per game and had 137 receiving yards. Betancourt had 20 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.  The Trojans were also the state runners-up for the 2009 New Mexico State Championship. Betancourt was a starter for the Trojans for two years.
Personal: Betancourt is the son of Sal Betancourt and Elsa Abad. He plans to major in psychology.
