Aaron Laut enters his first season as a defensive graduate assistant with the New Mexico State football program in 2020.
Laut arrived at NM State after spending the 2019 season at FCS powerhouse San Diego as a defensive graduate assistant. He assisted in coaching the defensive line and served as the unit's interim coach during weeks eight and nine of the season, helping the Toreros win the Pioneer Football League for the sixth consecutive year.
Laut's other responsibilities while at San Diego included breaking down opponents' game film, identifying blocking schemes & pass protections from the booth on gameday and running the scout team during practice. He also gained recruiting experience at the FCS level, evaluating prospective student-athlete film and helping out with the day-to-day operations during official visits.
Laut was a three-year starter on the defensive line at San Diego, graduating with a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2018.Â
