Cory White, a member of head coach Doug Martin’s NM State staff during the 2015 season, rejoined the Aggies in March 2020 and is in his first year as the team’s offensive line coach. White, who has nearly 20 years of college football coaching experience at every level – FBS, FCS, DII, DIII and JUCO - returned to Las Cruces after spending the previous two seasons at San Diego.
White was the player development coordinator in his first stint at NM State, assisting Martin with the day-to-day operations of the program. He was the Aggies’ liaison to professional scouts and for community service projects.
On the field, White assisted with the tight ends and special teams unit. He also evaluated prospect recruiting film and coordinated official visits.
White held multiple positions during his two years at San Diego, coaching the tight ends in 2018 before becoming the program’s offensive line coach in 2019. It was his second stint with the Toreros, having spent the 2012 and 2013 campaigns as their tight ends coach and offensive line coach, respectively.
At San Diego, White worked under the direction of head coach Dale Lindsey, who roamed the sidelines at NM State as assistant head coach and linebackers coach in 2009 and 2010 before serving as the defensive coordinator in 2011. The Toreros won the Pioneer Football League in all four seasons with White on the offensive staff, consistently ranking among the best nationally in total offense, scoring, passing, red zone, sacks allowed and tackles for loss allowed.
Under White’s tutelage at San Diego, seven offensive linemen earned All-PFL honors. He also mentored two standouts, including tight end Dalton Kincaid, to All-America recognition.
Prior to his second stint with the Toreros, White served as Humboldt State’s offensive line coach from 2015-17. In two seasons at HSU, White oversaw one of the top offensive lines in DII, coaching four-time Great Northwest Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year Alex Cappa. Cappa earned All-America honors in each of White's two seasons and earned an invite to the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl before he was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft.
White's offensive line garnered seven All-GNAC awards during the 2016-17 seasons. The Lumberjacks’ line blocked for halfback Ja'Quan Gardner, who rushed for 2,622 yards and 39 touchdowns over the two-year span.
From 2004-14, White also held positions at Chapman University (Calif.), San Diego Mesa College and Whittier College. As assistant athletic director and assistant football coach, he helped lead Chapman to its first Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship, NCAA playoff appearance and a final Division III ranking of No. 17 in the nation.
White earned his bachelor's degree in social science education from Humboldt State in 2004. He received his master's degree in education from Whittier in 2006.
He and his wife, Cheryl, reside in Las Cruces and have a son - Nolan.
