Zach Witherspoon is in his seventh year with the New Mexico State strength and conditioning staff.
Witherspoon is the lead assistant with Football and works directly with Men’s Basketball. He also oversees implementation of sports performance technologies, EliteForm, Polar Team Pro and 1080 Sprint.

In 2019, Witherspoon co-authored: CSCCa and NSCA Joint Consensus Guidelines for Transition Periods: Safe Return to Training Following Inactivity as a member of a committee for the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa).
Prior to NM State, Witherspoon worked as a Performance Specialist Intern at EXOS- Los Angeles. He assisted in movement and lifting sessions with NFL and NBA veterans.
Witherspoon played football at Carson-Newman from 2010-13. During his time at Carson-Newman, he was an Academic All-South Atlantic Conference selection as well as being named the Carson-Newman Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2013.
Witherspoon, who earned his master’s degree in Kinesiology, is certified by the CSCCa as Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified.
