Biography

2005-06 (Senior): Baker appeared in all 30 games and made 26 starts, setting career highs in nearly every statistical category, including scoring (4.4 ppg), rebounding (3.5 rpg), assists (31), steals (22) and field goal shooting (35.3%). She reached a career-best 11 points in a 75-58 win over Sacramento State Dec. 28 and equaled that mark Feb. 16 at Boise State. Baker grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds vs. Nevada at the Pan American Center Feb. 11.

2004-05 (Junior): Baker started 27 of the 28 games in which she played, averaging 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game. She hit three of three shots from beyond the arc for a career-high nine points in the Aggies’ 68-63 win over 22nd-ranked Houston on Jan. 3. Baker scored seven points and tied a career high with nine rebounds in the win over New Orleans on Feb. 12.

2003-04 (Sophomore): Baker had a breakout year for the Aggies during the 2003-04 season. After playing just seven games as a freshman, Baker played in 26 of 29 games and made two starts as a sophomore. She finished the season averaging 0.8 points and 2.2 boards per game. Her best game of the season came against Houston on November 28 when she grabbed a career-high nine boards, two points and blocked one shot. She finished the season with three rebounding totals of five or more. Against San Jose State, Baker grabbed four boards, blocked three shots and scored two points in the loss.

2002-03 (Freshman): Baker played in seven games for the Aggies as a freshman in 2002-03. She recorded career-highs in points (4) and rebounds (2) against Texas Pan American.

High School: Baker attended Cibola High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she averaged 11 points, nine rebounds and four steals her senior season under head coach, Doug Dorame. She led her team in rebounding three straight years. She was named first team all-district and second team all-city after leading her team to a 15-10 finish during her senior campaign. Tristan was a four-year letter winner in basketball and track. She played in the East/West All-star game and the North/South All-star games her senior year. She was the 2002 State class 5 A high jump champion with a winning jump of 5 feet, 4 inches. She won the Albuquerque city high jump championship and ran on the winning 800-meter relay in 2002. She won a gold medal in the Marilyn Sepul Invitational, becoming the first Cibola athlete in any class to accomplish that feat. She was the back-to-back district high jump champion (2001-2002), while breaking a 22-year Cibola High School high jump record with a jump of 5 feet 6 inches. Tristan was named the Cibola High School Female Athlete of the Year and was a finalist for the West Point Leadership Award. She received the Scholar Athlete Award for earning a 3.4 GPA.

Personal: Tristan Cheryl Baker was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is the daughter of Julie Smith. She is majoring in nursing.
