2012-13 (Redshirt Junior)
West made an appearance in 12 games during the 2012-13 season. He averaged 1.9 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. West shot 85.7 percent from the free-throw line (6-of-7). In the 67-37 win over Northern New Mexico (Nov. 21), West scored four points and grabbed five rebounds, both season-high marks. He also had five rebounds in the next game, a 79-57 win over Louisiana (Nov. 23). In WAC play, West made his first-career 3-pointer in the 86-72 win at Texas State (Jan. 31). In the NCAA Tournament, West tied his season best with four points on 2-for-2 shooting against No. 13 Saint Louis in the 64-44 loss.
2011-12 (Junior)
West redshirted the 2011-12 season, and he has two years of eligibility remaining.
2010-11 (Sophomore)
In his sophomore campaign, West made an appearance in 24 games. He averaged 2.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 2010-11. West shot 45.6 percent from the field (26-of-57). He ranked third on the team in blocked shots with 22, while he added 11 assists and five steals. At San Jose State (Feb. 23), West scored a career-high 10 points on 5-for-7 shooting. He blocked a career-best five shots against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Dec. 13). West posted five multiple-blocked shot games as a sophomore. He also grabbed a career-high seven rebounds against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and then matched that effort the following game with seven boards against Oklahoma Panhandle State (Dec. 16) in 19 minutes of action.
2009-10 (Freshman)
West played in 12 games and started in one contest as a freshman for the Aggies in 2009-10. At UCLA (Dec. 15), West scored four points and grabbed four rebounds, both season-high marks, with a 2-for-3 shooting performance from the field in the historic Pauley Pavilion. He also blocked his first career shot against the Bruins in 12 minutes of action. West recorded his first career start in the 79-75 win over Texas Southern in the Lou Henson Classic (Dec. 23).
High School
A Cheneyville, La., native, West arrived in Las Cruces after spending the 2008-09 season at God’s Academy in Dallas, Texas. He guided the team to a 35-7 record. The Ambassadors were the National Association of Christian Athletes (NACA) Division I National Champions and Texas High School Freelance State Champions. West and God’s Academy finished second at the National Christian Educated Basketball Association (NCEBA) National Tournament and third at the National Christian School Athletic Association (NCSAA) Tournament.
He was a first team NCEBA All-American in addition to an all-tournament team selection at the NACA, NCSAA, NCEBA and National Prep Alliance (NPA) tournaments.
In 2007-08, West led Rapides High School in Lecompte, La., to a Class B State Championship after averaging 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks per game. He was the District 6 Most Valuable Player and recorded eight triple-doubles (points, rebounds and blocks) with the Mustangs. As a member of the Louisiana Future AAU team, West led the squad to a top 6 finish at the Real Deal on the Hill in the spring of 2008 and averaged 14 points and 16 rebounds per contest.
Personal
West is the son of Lester West and Samone Jones, and he was born in Cheneyville, La. He is pursuing a degree in business.
