Biography

2006-07 (Redshirt Junior): In his first season with the Aggies, Peete was one of the most reliable performers on both sides of the ball as he was named to the All-WAC Newcomer and All-WAC Defensive Teams.  Peete ranked fourth on the team in scoring at 9.5 points per game and led the team in assists, 79, and steals, 44, while starting 29 straight games before a foot injury sidelined him for a week.  His 29 games started last season were a part of 56 straight starts to begin his Division I career.  His 1.45 steals per game ranked third among all players in the WAC while he led all Aggie guards with four rebounds per game.  Peete scored in double-figures 17 times and led the team in scoring four times.  He topped the 15-point plateau five times and scored a season-high 21 points in a win over San Jose State (Jan. 6).  Peete shot the ball well during his first year in Las Cruces as he connected on 40.1 percent of his total attempts and hit 37.5 percent from 3-point range.  Peete shot 40 percent or better from the floor in 14 games and hit 50 percent or better from behind the arc in 12 games.  On the defensive end of the court, Peete grabbed five or more rebounds in 14 games and had two or more steals 15 times.  He also shared the ball well as he had at least one assists in 27 of 31 games and had three or more in 14 games.  In the season opener, Peete recorded 19 points, three rebounds and three steals in a win over Pacific (Nov. 14).  Peete was 8-for-12 in the game, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range.  Two games later at No.  11 Arizona (Nov. 19), Peete had 18 points, five assists and four rebounds.  In his first trip to New Mexico (Nov. 28), Peete scored just three points, but nearly had a double-double with nine rebounds and a career-high nine assists.  The month of December was a good one for Peete as he scored 10 or more points in seven of eight games from Dec. 1 to Dec. 28.  In the first game of the Lou Henson Classic against Chicago State (Dec. 1), Peete registered his second career double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and three assists versus the Cougars.  After scoring just five points in his WAC debut versus Hawai’i (Jan. 4), Peete had seven rebounds, six assists and three steals to go along with his 21 points against the Spartans (Jan. 6).  In a homecoming of sorts, Peete scored 14 points and grabbed four rebounds in a win at Idaho (Jan. 11).  Peete spent his senior year at Pullman High School in Pullman, Wash., which is just eight miles outside of Moscow, Idaho.  From Jan. 20 to Jan. 31, Peete scored in double-figures in four straight games, including 10 in a win over No. 13/15 Nevada (Jan. 20) at the Pan American Center.  In the ESPNU BracketBuster Game versus Ohio (Feb. 17), he scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds in a win over the Bobcats.  Peete finished the game shooting 41.7 percent from the field and hit 7-of-9 free throws.


2005-06 (Junior): Peete redshirted the 2005-06 season after transferring from Kansas State.

2004-05 (Sophomore): Peete started all 29 games for the Wildcats at shooting guard in 2004-05.   As a sophomore he ranked second on the team in scoring with 13 points per game as he guided the Wildcats to a 17-12 overall record.  Peete scored in double figures in 19 of his 29 games and topped the 20-point mark five times.  He led Kansas State in scoring eight times.  Peete led the team in steals with 62 and had three or more steals in 10 contests.  He was second on the squad with 3.8 assists per game and had four or more assists in 19 games.  Peete was also a force on the glass, despite playing the guard position, as he ranked third on the team with 5.0 rebounds per game.  Peete ended the season with four rebounds or more in 22 of his 29 games and recorded double figure rebounds once.   He shot 37.7 percent from the field and 34.9 percent from 3-point range as the sharp shooter knocked down 44 3-pointers.  Peete hit five or more field goals in a game 13 times as a sophomore and made three or more 3-pointers in a game five times.  Peete began his Division I career in style as the sophomore scored 10 or more points in his first three outings as the Wildcats won their first eight games of the season.  After scoring 10 points against North Dakota State (Nov. 19) and Denver (Nov. 24), Peete exploded for 18 points in a 62-53 win over Washington State (Nov. 27).  He finished the game 5-for-13 from the field and grabbed five rebounds.  His first career 20-point game came in a 64-61 win over Wyoming (Dec. 11) as he led the Wildcats with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting.  A week later, Peete again topped 20 points as he finished with 22 in a win over Texas-San Antonio (Dec. 18).  Peete, who was 6-for-14 from the field, hit 10-of-12 free throws and had five assists and five steals in the victory.  Before jumping into Big 12 play, he again led the Wildcats with 25 points in a win over Central Missouri State (Jan. 3).  Peete entered conference play riding high as he scored in double figures in his first three Big 12 contests and in nine of his first 10.  In all, Peete scored 10 or more points in 14 of the Wildcats’ 18 regular season league games.   In a win over Missouri (Jan. 15), Peete finished with 14 points and hit 8-of-8 free throws.  Against Kansas (Feb. 9), Peete again stepped up as he led the Wildcats with 20 points against the Jayhawks.  Peete finished the game 6-for-12 from the field and hit all six of his shots from behind the arc.  In a 75-72 overtime loss at Texas (Feb. 12), Peete scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed five rebounds.  In a second meeting with Kansas in Lawrence (March 2), Peete finished with 16 points while dishing out five assists and grabbing five steals in a 72-65 loss to the Jayhawks.  In a first-round win over Texas A&M at the Big 12 Conference Tournament (March 10), Peete recorded his first career double-double as he finished with 13 points and a career-best 14 rebounds.  

2003-04 (Freshman): Before attending Kansas State, Peete spent one season at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.   As a freshman, he averaged a team-high 18.3 points per game and guided the Golden Norseman to a 25-8 record and the championship game of the Region II playoffs.   Peete was named a third team NJCAA All-American in 2003-04 and was one of only four freshmen to be named to the first, second and third All-American teams by the NJCAA.   He was also named a first team Region II selection and was judged the top player in the Bi-State Eastern Athletic Conference.

High School: After transferring from Westside High School in Memphis, Tenn., Peete played his senior year at Pullman High School in Pullman, Wash.   In just one season, Peete led the Greyhounds to a 23-4 record and a runner-up finish at the Class 2A State Tournament.   He was selected as the Palouse Player of the Year as well as to the all-state, all-league, all-district and all-region teams after averaging 27.2 points and 10.5 rebounds for the Panthers.   Peete was named the WIAA (Washington Interscholastic Activities Association)/Seattle Times State Athlete of the Week after he averaged 25.8 points, 11 rebounds and 2.8 steals in four games at the 2A state tournament.

Personal: Peete was born in Memphis, Tenn.  and is the son of Henry Bates and Rhonda Peete.  He is majoring in family and child sciences.
