Biography

Summer 2013

Buovac returned home to Croatia and played for the national team in the Sportland Under 20 European Division A Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, July 9-21. He averaged 9.2 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. Buovac also shot 39.1 percent from the 3-point line (18-of-46). Buovac and the Croatian team posted a 3-6 overall record.

2012-13 (Freshman)

Buovac played in 12 games for the Aggies in his freshman campaign. In his first career appearance, he scored a career-high eight points on 3-of-4 shooting from the field and a 2-of-3 showing at the 3-point line in a 71-51 win over Missouri State (Dec. 22) in Las Cruces. Buovac shot 54.5 percent from the field (6-of-11) and 37.5 from the 3-point line (3-of-8) as a freshman. Buovac helped the Aggies to their second consecutive WAC Tournament crown as he sank a 3-pointer in the 65-49 victory over Idaho in the tournament quarterfinals (March 14).

High School

Buovac spent the 2011-12 season at La Lumiere in La Porte, Ind., after he arrived in the U.S. in August 2011. He helped the Lakers to a 27-3 record and shot 44.6 percent from the 3-point line. La Lumiere, who was ranked as high as No. 5, played in the ESPNHS National High School Invitational in March but fell to No. 9 Montverde Academy in the first round. Earlier in the season, the Lakers upset No. 1 Findlay Prep, 67-66, for its lone loss of the season. Buovac was the sixth senior from La Lumiere to sign an NLI in 2012.

In International competition, he was a team captain for the under-18 team in the European Championships in Poland and averaged nearly seven points a game in 2011. Buovac also played for the under-16 team in the 2009 European Championships in Lithuania. In 2010, he played in the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, and the squad captured silver in 3-on-3 action.

Personal

Born in Rijeka, Croatia, Buovac is the son of Zvonimir and Snjezana Buovac. He is pursuing a degree in international business.
