Biography
2007-08 (Junior): Paris Carter played in 13 games for the Aggies as a junior and he started in one game. He averaged 6.1 points and 1.7 rebounds per contest. Carter had a 31.3 field goal percentage and 72.2 free three percentage. Versus No. 15/16 Texas in the Legends Classic (Nov. 23), Carter posted a season-high 14 points. He then earned his first career start as an Aggie versus West Virginia (Nov. 24) in the final game of the classic. Carter also had a double-digit scoring performance against Prairie View A&M (Dec. 11) when he contributed 12 points. He had 17 assists and seven steals as a junior after beginning the season with a four-game streak with multiple assists.
2006-07 (Sophomore): Carter was a second team NJCAA Division II All-American as a sophomore at Cecil Community College in Maryland. Carter, who played in all 36 games, guided the Seahawks to a 33-3 overall record, which tied the school record for the most wins. He also led Cecil to a fifth-place finish at the NJCAA Division II National Tournament. Behind Carter’s 15.5 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, Cecil claimed its third straight Maryland JUCO Conference regular season title and fourth straight Maryland JUCO Conference Tournament crown while the team was ranked No. 1 in the final NJCAA Division II national poll. Carter ended the season shooting 40.3 percent from the field, 31.1 percent from 3-point range and a team-best 76 percent from the free-throw line.
2005-06 (Freshman): Prior to attending Cecil, Carter played his freshman season at Hartford and was named to the America East All-Rookie Team. In 27 games, he ranked third on the team in scoring, averaging 7.8 points and 3.6 rebounds. He was named the America East Rookie of the Week four times. Carter, who helped the Hawks to a 13-15 overall record and a 9-7 mark in the America East Conference, scored in doubles-figures eight times, including back-to-back 20-point-plus games at Stony Brook, 24, and versus Boston, 21, to end the regular season.
High School: Before joining the Hartford men’s basketball team, Carter played for Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore. As a senior, Carter earned all-metro, all-city and all-state honors after averaging 23.8 points and 12.1 rebounds per game. He was a four-time Baltimore Sun Player of the Week and was the Las Vegas Hoops Classic Most Valuable Player. Carter also attended the Nike All-America Camp as a junior and senior.
Personal: Carter was born in Baltimore, Md., and is the son of Earl Carter and Antonia Chapman. He is majoring in criminal justice.
