Keith Roberts returns home as he has been named the new Director of Basketball Operations for Aggies Men’s Basketball, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the Aggie program. A native of Las Cruces, Roberts is no stranger to NM State, having spent seven seasons in various roles within the program. His tenure includes three years as an undergraduate manager, two years as a graduate assistant, and two seasons as a special assistant to the head coach.
Roberts was integral to NM State's success from 2014 to 2020, working under esteemed coaches Marvin Menzies, Paul Weir, and Chris Jans. During that period, the Aggies amassed an impressive 183-55 overall record and a 92-12 conference record. Roberts was part of five WAC Tournament Championships, five NCAA Tournament appearances, and an NIT appearance. The program also enjoyed a 30-win season in 2018-2019 and an undefeated conference record in 2019-2020. Notably, he assisted in the early development of NBA All-Star and champion Pascal Siakam, as well as standout players like Zach Lofton, Jemerrio Jones, Trevelin Queen, and Jabari Rice—all of whom made their marks in the professional ranks.
In his coaching journey, Roberts also led Mayfield High School’s boys’ basketball program, achieving the most wins in a season since 2014 and setting records in academics and community outreach. His leadership at Mayfield underscored his commitment to both athletic and personal development among his players.
Roberts graduated from NM State in 2016 with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications, accompanied by minors in Marketing, Business Administration, History, and Government.
