Biography
2004-05 (Junior): In his first season with the Aggies, Lawrence played a big role for the New Mexico State men's basketball team as the 7-foot center saw action in every game and made 13 starts. Lawrence, who played 22 minutes per game as a junior, averaged 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. He finished the year leading the Aggies and ranked fifth in the Sun Belt Conference in shooting percentage at 55 percent. He was second on the squad in total rebounding with 139 boards and was one of just four Aggies to record over 100 rebounds, including a team-high 50 on the offensive glass. Defensively, Lawrence was also a force as the native of Jamaica blocked a team-high 41 shots and finished fourth in the Sun Belt Conference with 1.37 blocks per game. Lawrence led the Aggies in scoring three times last season and was the club's high rebounder seven times. He scored in double figures 12 times and had five or more rebounds on 15 occasions. In 30 games, Lawrence was held without a rebound just two times and had a least three or more offensive boards in five games. He also registered at least one block in 23 of the Aggies' 30 contests in 2004-05 and had two or more swats in 10 games. In his first action as an Aggie, Lawrence averaged 8.7 points and five rebounds in three games as he helped New Mexico State to the championship game of the 2004 BP Top of the World Classic in Fairbanks, Alaska. In his first game at the Pan American Center, Lawrence wooed the hometown crowd as he scored a career-best 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting and added seven rebounds to lead the Aggies against Texas-Arlington (Nov. 24). Against the Lobos at the Pan American Center he led the team with seven rebounds, registered four blocks and added 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting. In his first I-10 rivalry game with UTEP (Dec. 15), Lawrence was 4-for-7 from the floor for nine points, added three blocks and six rebounds. Three days later, Lawrence took his show down the interstate to El Paso and registered his first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds against the Miners. Entering conference play, Lawrence continued to play well for the Aggies as he had at least eight points in seven of the first nine conference tilts.
2003-04 (Sophomore): Lawrence played his sophomore season at Highland Community College (Ill.) where he averaged seven points and six boards a game, while helping his team to a 31-1 record, the Arrowhead Conference title with a 12-0 conference record and an appearance in the Junior College National Tournament.
2002-03 (Freshman): As a freshman, Lawrence played at Chipola Junior College (Fla.). In 15 games he shot 75 percent from the field, blocked 11 shots and averaged 3.3 points a contest.
High School: In his first year of organized basketball, Lawrence helped lead his team to a league title while averaging five points and five rebounds a game as a senior for Hydel High School in St. Catherine, Jamaica.
Personal: Trevor is the son of Trevor Lawrence and Cordette A. Johnson. He is majoring in Family & Child Sciences at New Mexico State University.
