2006-07: In her first season with the Aggies, Jawara was one of only two players to start in every game on the year. She was named the WAC Player of the Week on Nov. 13 after scoring 18 points in her NMSU debut on Nov. 12 in a 69-52 victory at Lamar. She scored 13.1 points per game and grabbed 7.5 rebounds on the year, both good for second best on the team while she added 31 steals and 47 assists. In conference games only, Jawara scored the fourth most points per game (15.1) and tied for the fifth most rebounds per contest (8.1). She had four games where she scored 20 or more points and scored 15 or more points in 12 games. On Jan. 24 at Idaho, Jawara scored a career-high 25 points on 10-of-28 shooting from the field. She pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds against Hawai’i on Feb. 8. From Jan. 11 through Feb. 14, Jawara had a 10-straight games scoring in double figures and she also led or tied for the team lead in scoring in 10 games.

Georgia Perimeter College: Jawara was a NJCAA All-Region 17 selection and national player of the week recipient for Georgia Perimeter College in Decatur, Ga. In 2005-06, she led the Jaguars to a 21-11 record, which included a trip to the NJCAA National Championship tournament. Jawara also led GPC to a 12-0 record in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association. As a sophomore (05-06), she averaged 12.8 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field. She ranked second in the conference with 9.6 rebounds per game while also grabbing 2.2 steals per game.

High School: Jawara is a graduate of North Atlantic High School.

Personal: Anikia Jawara is the daughter of Jacuma and Venus Jawara. She is majoring in mass communications.
