Biography

2006-07: Denning played in 16 games, making five starts before suffering a season-ending injury in late January. She averaged 1.6 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. In the season-opener at Lamar on Nov. 12, she scored a season-high seven points and tied her career-high by grabbing 13 rebounds. Denning pulled down 11 rebounds in just 14 minutes of play in her final game of the season at Idaho on Jan. 24.

 

2005-06: Denning started 12 games in 2005-06 and made 12 more appearances off the bench, averaging 0.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Her best game of the season came against her hometown school, I-10 rivals UTEP, on November 30 at the Pan American Center when she set career highs with 13 rebounds and three blocks. Her four assists against Idaho at home January 5 were also a career high. She finished the season ranked third on the Aggies in blocked shots with 11. A strong student, Denning was named to the WAC All-Academic Team.

 

2004-05: Denning came off the bench in 23 contests for the Aggies in 2004-05, averaging 1.4 points and 2.2 rebounds per game. On Dec. 11 against San Jose State, she played a season-high 26 minutes and scored a career-high 13 points and pulled down four rebounds. Two games earlier, against Western New Mexico on Nov. 30, Denning grabbed eight rebounds, including three offensive boards, in just 15 minutes. All season long, Denning made the most of limited action from a rebounding standpoint, hauling one in every 3.5 minutes on average, second on the squad only to overall leading rebounder Sherell Neal. She grabbed four boards in seven minutes against Northern Arizona on Nov. 27 and five in 10 minutes against Denver on Feb. 17. Denning led the Aggies in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.71-to-1.

 

High School:  Denning is a 2004 graduate of Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas. Denning, where she played for Endi Vargas. The 6-1 forward led EHS to a 28-3 record her senior year, averaging 14 points, nine rebounds, and three assists per game. Denning earned all-region, first team all-city and first team all-district 1-5A honors as a senior.

 

Personal: Carla Denning was born April 3, 1986 in Fort Stockton, Texas and is the daughter of Carmen and the late Charles Denning. She is undecided on her major.
