Biography

2007-08 ? Sophomore: Spanich had an outstanding sophomore season for the Aggies where she played in 31 games and started in the first five of the season. Spanich finished second in the WAC with her 79.8 free throw percentage by going 70-for-99 at the foul line and that percentage is the eighth best for a single-season in program history. Her 22.0 minutes played per game was the most of anyone on the team aside from the four players who started in every game. She finished fourth on the team in scoring with 6.8 points per game and was third on the team with 4.2 rebounds a game. Spanich led the team in blocked shots in nine different games and in scoring three times. She finished third on the team with 34 steals, had 20 blocked shots and 44 assists on the year. From Dec. 21 through Jan. 10, Spanich had made 24 consecutive free throws, which was 13 more than the next highest streak at the foul line on the team. She recorded her first career double-double in a 82-73 win over Utah Valley with her 13 points and 10 rebounds. Spanich saved her best games of the season for Boise State and she averaged 14.7 points in the three games against the Broncos. On Feb. 9 at Boise State, Spanich scored a career high 19 points on 4-of-8 shooting from the field and a 9-of-10 performance at the free-throw line. 16 of those points came in the second half as she led the charging Aggies back from a 15-point second half deficit. The game went into overtime thanks to her heroics in the final seconds of the game, as she nailed a 3-pointer with 17 seconds to play to put NMSU up by one before the Broncos forced overtime. Then in the semifinals of the WAC Championships on March 14, Spanich again led the Aggies in a huge second half comeback, only this time NMSU trailed by as much as 19 points with 14 minutes to play. Spanich scored 16 of her 18 points in the game in the second half and had six rebounds, two assists and two steals to help the Aggies pull off the miracle comeback and win by six. On Jan. 10 versus the Broncos she passed out a career-high five assists in a 14-point victory at home. Spanich had a career-high four steals in a two point victory at BYU (12/5) and had four other games with three steals. She shot 40.1 percent from the field on the year and 35.1 percent from 3-point land, as she made 13 of her 37 attempts. Spanich made 28-of-32 attempts at the free-throw line inside the final two minutes of games and in overtime on the year.

2006-07 ? Freshman: Spanich was one of the Aggies top players off the bench, as she played in all but one game on the year and averaged 19.9 minutes per game. She started one game on the year, a Nov. 19, 69-63 win over Texas-San Antonio in which Spanich scored seven points, grabbed four rebounds and had three blocks. She averaged 3.9 points and 3.2 rebounds per game while adding 25 assists, 19 blocks and 16 steals on the year. Her 10 points on Jan. 20 and March 9 were the most she scored on the year and she pulled down a season-high nine rebounds in a 72-69 win at Wichita State on Dec. 16. Spanich played a vital role off the bench towards the end of the year when the Aggies were making their run to the championship game of the WAC Tournament. In the final seven games of the year, she averaged 6.1 points and four rebounds, while playing an average 24 minutes per game.

High School: Prior to becoming an Aggie, Spanich was named National Christian School Athletic Association Division I National Girl’s Varsity Player of the Year after averaging 23.9 points and 12.3 rebounds a game at Victory Christian High School in Tulsa, Okla. As a senior, Spanich led the Lady Conquerors to a 20-7 record and was named Tulsa Metro Player of the Year and Empire Conference Most Valuable Player in addition to earning all-state honors.

Personal: Hannah Spanich was born to parents Steve and Terri Spanich. She is undecided on her major. Her brother Samuel played at Newman University and Adam played at USC and professionally overseas.
