Biography

2005-06: Ford started 29 of 30 games and finished the season as New Mexico State's leading scorer (10.7 ppg) and rebounder (7.2 rpg) and ranked second on the team with 15 blocked shots. Her 26 steals were third-highest on the squad as well. Ford was named to the All-WAC Tournament Team after leading the seventh-seeded Aggies to upsets of second-seeded Fresno State and sixth-seeded Boise State and a berth in the WAC Championship game. She had 16 points and 16 rebounds against Fresno State (her 10 for 10 performance at the foul line in that game tied the school record) and 16 and 7 in the win over BSU in the semifinals. Ford averaged 14.0 points and 10.7 rebounds during the WAC Tournament. Ford finished with four double-doubles and tied a career high with 24 points to go along with 15 rebounds against Hawai'i on March 2. The XBox Live WAC Player of the Week for December 19 had 18 points and 10 rebounds against UC Irvine and recorded a career-high 18 rebounds against I-25 rivals New Mexico on December 21. Her buzzer-beating jumper in that game forced triple overtime. Ford finished her Aggie career ranked seventh all-time in rebounding average (7.3 rpg) and eighth in career blocked shots with 65 in three seasons.

2004-05: Ford started 27 of the 28 games in which she played, averaging 5.6 points and tying for the team lead with 6.9 rebounds per game to go along with 25 blocks and 29 steals. She recorded a double-double in a 53-42 win over Air Force on Nov. 26, scoring 13 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Ford made a huge contribution to the Aggies’ win over I-10 rival UTEP on Dec. 14 with 10 points and eight rebounds. Ford pulled down 13 rebounds in consecutive games against Denver and South Alabama in February.

2003-04 (Junior): Ford missed the entire 2003-04 campaign with a medical red-shirt.

2002-03 (Sophomore): Ford appeared in all 28 games while starting in 24 for the Aggies in 2002-03. She led the Aggies in total rebounds (218), offensive rebounds (140) and defensive rebounds (78) while averaging 7.8 rebounds and 6.6 points per game in her first year as an Aggie after transferring from the University of Pittsburgh. She recorded four double-doubles while grabbing double-digit rebounds in nine games. She led the Aggies rebounds 15 times, including 11 of 16 games against Sun Belt opponents, averaging 10.18 rebounds in those games. In 2002-03, she recorded career-highs in points (15), against South Alabama and Idaho State, rebounds (17), against Wichita State, assists (3), against UL-Lafayette, steals (3), against UTEP and Idaho State and blocks (4), against Long Beach State. She finished in the top-five on the team in field goal percentage (.416), points (184), points per game (6.6) and blocks (25).

2001-2002: Ford red-shirted after transferring from the University of Pittsburgh.

University of Pittsburgh: Ford attended the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

High School: Ford attended Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois where she played at the power forward position under head coach, John Sanchez. She led her team in points and rebounds as a junior and senior. During her senior campaign, she averaged 12.9 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Ford earned all-state honorable mention three times and was a 3-time all-conference and all-area selection. She led her team to a 26-5 record as a senior in 1999-2000 and the state quarterfinals, marking the first time a girl's team in her district qualified for the finals. Her teams also captured two conference, two regional and three sectional championships. Ford was also an accomplished track and field athlete, qualifying for the state championships four years in a row. She ran on a relay team that won the state title her senior year.

Personal: Jenean L. Ford was born in Chicago, Illinois, and is the daughter of Charles and Peggy Ford. She graduated with a degree in communications, and is now pursuing her masters.
