Biography
2005-06: Maffei, a WAC All-Academic Team honoree, appeared in eight games as a reserve. She hit a key three-pointer late in the win over Sacramento State at the Pan American Center Dec. 28 to stave off a Hornet rally. Against Fresno State at home Jan. 26, Maffei recorded her first career steal.
2004-05: Came off the bench in 14 games as a freshman, averaging 0.4 points and 0.4 rebounds per contest. Against Arkansas State on Feb. 24, Maffei made the most of her two minutes of action, drawing a foul, sinking two free throws and pulling down two rebounds.
High School: Maffei, a 5-9 shooting guard, is a 2004 graduate of Sacred Heart Prep School in Atherton, Calif., one of the most storied high school programs in recent California history. A native of San Carlos, Calif., Maffei played for head coach Wendy Quattelbaum, averaging 14 points and six rebounds per game. Sacred Heart has produced 20 players for the college level in the last 10 years. Sacred Heart won four state championships and won 80 consecutive games during the mid-to-late 90's under Mike Ciardella. Maffei earned West Catholic Athletic League second-team honors as a senior.
Personal: Marissa Maffei was born August 3, 1986, in Redwood City, Calif. And is the daughter of Tim and Becky Maffei. She is majoring in Elementary Education.
