Biography

2007-08 ? Junior                : After missing the majority of the first part of the season while recovering from an off-season surgery, Holt came back strong for the Aggies in mid-December. She played in 18 games on the year and made seven starts at center as a junior. Holt’s 11 blocked shots were the fourth most on the team and she did it in 14 fewer games than the top three leaders. She led the team in blocked shots in six different games and enters her senior season on the verge of breaking into the top 10 in NMSU history for most blocked shots in a career. Holt averaged one point and 1.2 rebounds per game. Playing an average of 8.3 minutes per game, the 6-4 center made 3-of-6 3-point attempts, had four assists and a steal on the season. She scored a season-high five points against Hawai’i, Jan. 31, including her second 3-pointer of the year. Her first make behind the arc came at Louisiana Tech, Jan. 19, and her final trey was at Boise State,  Feb. 9. Holt had three games where she collected three rebounds and had two consecutive games where she blocked two shots.

 

2006-07 ? Sophomore: Holt played in 28 games for the Aggies, making 11 starts at center. She averaged 2.3 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. Her 34 blocks on the year was the second most on the team and it was the seventh most by an Aggie ever in a single-season. Holt scored a career-high seven points in two games. The first was against San Jose State, Jan. 27, and the second was Feb. 5 against Utah State when she also pulled down nine rebounds. On Dec. 19 against in-state rival New Mexico, Holt played an outstanding defensive game blocking five shots, grabbing six rebounds and recording three steals. She added 16 assists and 10 steals as a sophomore.

 

2005-06 ? Freshman: Holt played in 18 games and made four starts at center as a freshman, finishing the year with per-game averages of 0.9 points and 1.6 rebounds. In the 61-60 overtime win over Boise State at the Pan American Center, Jan. 7, the first WAC win in school history, Holt had 10 rebounds, three blocked shots and sank two key free throws with less than 30 seconds remaining that was difference on the scoreboard.

 

High School: Holt played for head coach Jason Blankenship at Tulia High School in Tulia, Texas. As a senior, she averaged 15 points and eight rebounds per game. She was named first team all-district her senior season and second team all-region and all-state her junior season. In 2004, she earned B.C.I. (Basketball Congress International) All-American Honorable Mention honors.

 

Personal: Nicole (Niki) Holt was born July 10, 1987 in Fort Worth, Texas and is the daughter of Dennis and Jane Holt. She is majoring in communications.
