High School:

Young signed during the fall 2011 early signing period. The ESPN Hoopgurlz website ranked New Mexico State's 2012 commitments of Young, Abby Scott and Sasha Weber among the top-20 mid-major recruiting classes in the nation. The site stated the three perimeter players should provide plenty of scoring and ball-handling skills for the Aggies.

As a senior, Young averaged 22.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. She helped lead the Matadors reach the Division III final and record a 26-7 overall record. As a result, Young earned 2012 All-CIF San Diego Section honors. After her senior campaign, Young was selected by the San Diego County Basketball Coaches Association to participate in the 2012 Senior All-Star Game. She earned Union-Tribune All-Academic team honors in her final season earning a 4.16 GPA.

As a junior, Young averaged 15.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.3 blocks per game at Mount Miguel and earned all-city, all-academic and all-state honors. She averaged a double-double, 19 points and 10 rebounds, at the Aztec Invitational to earn High School Athlete of the Week honors from the Union-Tribune. Young scored 14 points, grabbed six boards and made six blocks to help the Matadors capture the 2011 CIF San Diego Section girls' basketball championship.

The guard participated on the Elite Basketball Organization (EBO) travel team that helped produce former Aggie stars Madison Spence and Danisha Corbett. Young was also named to the Union-Tribune All-Academic First Team member in 2011 with a 4.2 GPA. Young chose NM State over Utah State, Santa Clara and San Francisco.

Personal:

Young was born Feb. 24, 1994 in San Diego. She is the daughter of Larry Young and Deborah Henderson. She plans to study biology and pursue a career in animal science.
