Biography

2008-09 – Freshman

Altenburg appeared in 14 games as a freshman for the Aggies, averaging 1.9 points and 1.1 rebounds in six and a half minutes per game. She scored 26 points in all on the year on 6-of-27 shooting and made four 3-pointers. Altenburg added three assists, one steal and one block at Nevada, Jan. 10, which led the team in a 61-56 loss. Also in that game versus the Wolf Pack, Altenburg scored a career-high eight points on two 3-pointers and two free throws. In just her second game of the season, Altenburg scored seven points for the Aggies in just six minutes at Long Beach State, Dec. 22. She made one 3-pointer, was 4-of-6 at the free-throw line and had two rebounds against the 49ers. In a Jan. 8 loss in the conference opener at Utah State, Altenburg corralled a season-high four rebounds in 16 minutes out on the court.

 

High School        

Altenburg was a first team 4A Northern Nevada All-Region selection as a senior for Elko High School. She was the 2008 Most Valuable Player of the Elko Daily Free Press, Elko High School MVP and was selected to the first team 4A Northern Nevada High Desert All-League. As a senior, she averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds per game and made 87 percent of her free throw attempts. Altenburg was the leading scorer at the 2008 Intermountain Hoops Fall Top Twenty Showcase, a McDonald’s All-America and Gatorade All-America candidate and was named a 2008 Intermountain Hoops Scouting Service Top Wing Prospect. She was a third team 2007 Las Vegas Journal 4A All-State selection, 2006 Reno Gazette Journal All-Northern 4A Region selection and a first team NevadaPrep.com All-Greater Nevada honoree in 2005. She led her team to the playoffs in her junior and sophomore seasons after the team went just 5-22 the year before her freshman season. She led the Indians in scoring and rebounding in each season and led Elko in assists, steals and blocked shots in her sophomore, junior and seasons. Altenburg graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer (1,874 points) and rebounder (1,030) to go along with a hefty 323 career steals. She was a National Honor Society member with her 3.8 grade point average.

 

Personal              

Taylor Altenburg was born March 8, 1990 in Elko, Nev., to parents Cathy and Mike Altenburg. She is majoring in psychology.
