2007-08 ? Junior: Walton was one of three Aggies on the team to start in all 32 games on the season. She was the Aggies’ defensive specialist in 2007-08, as she was always matched up with the opposing team’s best outside scoring threat. Walton finished her junior season averaging 6.3 points per game, which is the second highest scoring average of all returning players. She had 53 rebounds on the year, 23 assists, 21 steals and two blocked shots. Walton’s 44.7 field goal percentage was the second best on the team and she shot 70.6 percent from the free-throw line. The top two scoring games of her career came against Fresno State. First on March 1, Walton scored a career-high 24 points on 12-of-16 shooting from the field. The 24 points was the most any player on the team scored in a single game all season. Then in the March 8 rematch at Fresno State, she scored 15 points to lead the Aggies and she had two steals. Walton scored in double figures in seven different games and had two games where she shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. The first was in a Dec. 18 win over Lamar and the second came three games later, Jan. 3, against Idaho also in a victory. In the season opener at UC Irvine, Nov. 9, Walton tied a career-high with seven rebounds in the four-point, 65-61, victory. She enters her senior season having played in 88 career games and has started in her last 48 games.

2006-07 ? Sophomore: Walton started in 18 of the 29 games she played in during her sophomore season. She averaged 4.4 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. She had three games in which she scored in double figures and scored a season-high 12 points in a 68-57 victory over Nevada, March 3, on 5-of-8 shooting from the field. On Feb. 28 against Louisiana Tech, Walton pulled down a career-high seven rebounds. She added 19 assists, 15 steals and five blocks on the year.

2005-06 ? Freshman: Walton played in 27 games, missing the other three with a knee injury, and started five of those in her freshman season. She averaged 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds per game. Walton scored a season-high 10 points, all in the first half at Cal Poly, Dec. 17, before exiting with a knee injury. The Aggies went on to win that game, 65-63.

High School: Walton started all four years at Mary Star of the Sea High School in San Pedro, Calif., averaging 22 points and 12 rebounds a game. At the conclusion of her senior season, Walton was named to the first team All-California Interscholastic Federation and to the Southern California All-Star Team. Outside of school, Walton played for the West Coast All-Stars summer league team where she played with current Division I basketball players. Blue Star Basketball named her as one of the top 100 seniors in the nation in the class of 2005.

Personal: Tyshae (pronunced tie-SHAY) Walton was born, March 9, 1987, in Los Angeles, Calif., and is the daughter of Melvin and Latonya Walton. Walton chose New Mexico State over Georgetown, St. John’s, West Virginia and Rutgers. She is majoring in business management.
