Biography

2009 (Senior): As one of only two seniors on the inaugural squad, Smith helped the Aggies to a WAC Tournament berth in 2009. She played in four matches and recorded her first career start at NM State against Nevada (Oct. 30). Smith made her first appearance in the Crimson and White in the team’s first win in Aggie Memorial Stadium, a 3-0 decision over Texas-Permian Basin (Sept. 16).

 

Prior to NM State: Smith played soccer at UC Santa Barbara for two seasons (2005-06). In her sophomore campaign, Smith and the Gauchos tied for the Big West regular season title. The squad finished the year 7-7-6 and Smith appeared in three matches. As a freshman, she played in 14 matches and attempted two shots. In 2005, UCSB posted a 9-10 record and claimed fourth in the Big West.

 

High School/Club: She graduated from Las Cruces High School and was a two-time first team all-district honoree for the Bulldawgs. As a sophomore, Smith was a second team all-district selection en route to leading Las Cruces to a state championship in 2003. She also led the team to four district titles in her career. As a member of the Rio Vista Elite, Smith led the club to four championships, 2000-02 and 2005. She guided the team to a pair of runner-up finishes in 1999 and 2003. The Rio Vista Elite was a seven-time Duke City Premier League champion and 2001 Far West Region champion.

 

Personal: Smith is the daughter of Ruben and Elizabeth Smith and was born in Las Cruces, N.M. She is majoring in kinesiology.
