Biography

2012 (Junior): Bitner returned to the field in 2012 and started in nine matches for the Aggies at goalkeeper. She played in 12 contests and recorded 947:33 minutes of action. She led the Aggies in both saves (66), save percentage (.795) and shutouts (3.0) in her junior season. Bitner posted a 1.61 goals against average with 17 goals allowed and a 1-8-2 record. She earned WAC Goalkeeper of the Week honors for Aug. 27-Sept. 2 following a shutout in a 1-0 win over Southern Utah (Sept. 2). She played all 90 minutes in the victory and recorded seven saves. It was her first WAC award of the season and the second of her career. In the 0-0 double overtime draw at Montana (Sept. 14), Bitner grabbed a career-high 12 saves. She also record double-digit saves (11) in the 0-0 double overtime tie with Utah State (Sept. 28). Bitner was named to the Academic All-WAC team in 2012.  

2011 (Sophomore): Bitner redshirted the 2011 season due to an injury.

2010 (Redshirt Freshman): Bitner made 11 starts as the Aggie goalkeeper in 2010. She led NM State with 67 saves, .827 save percentage and 1.25 goals against average in a team-high 1,009:31 minutes of action. Bitner posted two shutouts, allowed only 14 goals and tallied a 4-5-2 record. In her first career shutout, Bitner directed the Aggies to a 1-0 win over North Dakota (Sept. 10) with nine saves. She was named the WAC Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 13) after anchoring the defense and recording a 1.000 save percentage in 90 minutes of play. In her next appearance, Bitner collected her second shutout of the year with two saves in the 4-0 win over Lamar (Sept. 19). In the WAC opener, Bitner grabbed a career-high 11 saves in the double overtime 2-1 loss at Nevada (Oct. 1). Along with her success on the pitch, Bitner earned Academic All-WAC honors in 2010.

2009 (Freshman): Bitner redshirted in 2009.

High School/Club: Bitner, a goalkeeper from Sandia High School in Albuquerque, N.M., led the Matadors to the state championship as a senior in 2008. She was named the District 2-5A Player of the Year after she posted 48 saves, a 0.29 goals against average and only allowed five goals. Bitner guided Sandia to a 21-4 record in 2008 and a district runner-up finish. In her junior campaign, she was a second team all-district selection following 78 saves, a 0.91 goals against average and 20 allowed goals. Bitner directed the Matadors to a 17-6-1 record and a second-place showing in the district and state. In 2006, Bitner led Sandia to the state semifinals and district runner-up finish along with a 17-5 record. As a freshman, Bitner and the Matadors were 16-7 and state quarterfinalists.

Personal: She was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and she is the daughter of Michael Bitner and Kelly Collins. Bitner is majoring in environmental science.
