2013 (FRESHMAN): Coates made an immediate impact for the Aggies during the 2013 season playing in 85 sets.  She was tied for third on the team in service aces (18) posting the second highest service ace per set percentage for the Aggies. She recorded a career-high nine kills at California (Aug. 31) and posted a career-high 13 digs twice during the year (Aug. 31 vs UC-Santa Barbara and Sept. 13 vs. Southern Utah). Coates hit .400 against Seattle U (Oct. 6) marking five kills on 10 attempts while tallying one attack error and she hit .500 at Bakersfield (Oct. 17) putting down four kills on eight swings.

HIGH SCHOOL: Coates was a four-year letter winner at Silverado High School in Victorville, Calif., playing under coach Tyrone Brown.  She helped the Hawks win the Desert Sky League in 2009 and 2011, while the team was the runner-up in 2010 and 2012.  While playing middle blocker in 2010, Coates earned a spot on the all-tournament team at the Loara High School tournament. She was also named to the Desert Sky all-league team that season and earned a spot on the team in 2011.  She was also named to the All-CIF Southern Section and was the all-area Volleyball Player of the Year in 2011.  As a senior in 2012, she was awarded a spot on the Desert Sky all-league team and played in the Desert Sky all-star game.  Coates averaged 412 kills, 50 blocks and 98 digs per season.

PERSONAL: Coates was born in Los Angeles, Calif. on July 29, 1995.  She is the daughter of Allandus and Sarah Coates.  She mentions Olympic volleyball player Destiny Hooker as an inspiration in her life as she trained with her in the past. She plans to major in physical therapy.
