In her second stint with the NM State volleyball team, Tricia Wright serves  as an assistant coach/director of player development for the NM State volleyball program. She was the director of operations during the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Her duties include helping with travel arrangements, community relations and administrative duties. She was previously an assistant coach at NM State from 1998-02.

Before returning to Las Cruces, Wright was the head coach at Willamette University from 2002-07, while also serving as an exercise science instructor and a volunteer track and field coach.  In 2004, she led the Bearcats to a 19-6 overall record and a 13-3 mark in the Northwest Conference with a second-place finish.

Wright brings plenty of coaching experience to the team as she was an assistant coach at Utah State from 1997-98.  Before she took the job at USU, Wright was the head coach at Upper Iowa University for five seasons (1992-96) and was an assistant coach at The Claremont College for two seasons (1990-91).

Wright graduated from the University of La Verne in 1991, and competed in volleyball, softball, basketball, and track and field. Wright was La Verne’s Sportswoman of the Year in 1989, capping a year in which she was the conference’s most valuable player and won her second NCAA Division III National Championship in the javelin. In 1988, Wright was named an All-American as well as All-Region in volleyball. She was also a three-time All-America selection  in track and field and was inducted into the La Verne Hall of Fame in 1998.
