2008(JUNIOR): Birmingham started in 34 matches for the Aggies last season. She finished the season second on the team and fifth in the conference in total blocks, averaging 1.06 per set, while finishing with 111 on the season. She was second on the team in hitting percentage at .279 behind former Aggie standout Amber Simpson. She had a season-high five digs in the season opener against Oregon (8/29), while adding one ace and five kills. Birmingham had at least five blocks in nine games for NM State and had a career-tying nine blocks against Utah State (10/4) before she posted a career-high .857 hitting percentage against the Aggies of Utah State in Las Cruces (11/23). She posted seven blocks at Fresno State (11/8) and at New Mexico (11/20). Birmingham tallied eight kills at Nevada (11/6) to help the Aggies to a 3-2 victory over the Wolf Pack. Birmingham had a standout game during conference play against Boise State (10/18), with nine kills on 18 attempts while posting six blocks.
2007 (SOPHOMORE): Erin Birmingham played in 16 matches for a total of 44 games played at Georgia Tech in 2007. She recorded 45 kills, eight aces and 34 total blocks as a sophomore. In the first match of the season at Arkansas (8/24), Birmingham recorded six blocks and four kills. Against Temple (9/14) she hit .667 with five kills on six attempts as she recorded her highest hitting percentage of the season. She posted a season high six kills against North Carolina State (9/23) and tallied at least five blocks in three straight matches including matches at Virginia (11/4), versus Miami (11/16), and Florida State (11/17) when she marked a season-high seven blocks.
2006 (FRESHMAN): Birmingham made 24 match appearances, playing in 69 total games, in her rookie season. She hit .500 with seven kills while recording four block assists in her first collegiate match against Mississippi State (9/1). She posted seven kills and six total blocks while hitting .429 in Tech's win over Georgia State (9/2) and notched a career-high 10 kills while recording eight block assists against Toledo (9/8). Birmingham added nine kills on a .438 hitting clip at Kentucky the next day (9/9) before she hit a season-best .714 with five kills on seven attempts against Stetson (9/16). She recorded a season-high four service aces while posting six kills against Sam Houston State (9/16). Birmingham notched eight kills, a season-high nine total blocks and two service aces vs. Florida State (9/29) before she posted a season-best six digs while recording seven total blocks and eight kills at Maryland (10/6).
HIGH SCHOOL: Birmingham was a four-year letter winner at Park Hill South High School as a middle hitter, while she also earned letters in basketball and track and as a diver. She was the captain of the Park Hill volleyball team as a junior and senior and helped Park Hill to a 35-4-1 record and a third-place finish in the state championships as a senior. Birmingham was the recipient of the prestigious Eveland Gates Kansas City Metro Player of the Year Award, given to the most outstanding volleyball player in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan Area. She was tabbed the 2005 Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year and was also a finalist for the 2005 Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Birmingham finished her career as the school record holder in blocks and kills. She participated in the Missouri-Kansas All-Star Game and was an all-state competitor in the high jump and 4x400 relay for the Park Hill South track team. She also earned all-state honors in diving and all-conference accolades in basketball.
PERSONAL: Birmingham is the daughter of Casey and Anna Birmingham. She has two older brothers, Bobby and Rory. Her brother Rory played football at Brown University.
