2005 (RED SHIRT JUNIOR): In just her second season playing with the Aggies after transferring and red shirting, Choi had already made a name for herself as she was selected to the 2005 All-WAC Preseason Team before ever playing a match in the new conference. Choi lived up to the hype last season as she started every match at the setter position for the Aggies and was named first team All-WAC and to the 2005 All-WAC Tournament team. Choi was also a force in the classroom last season as she earned ESPN The Magazine first team Academic All-America honors and All-District VI accolades. It was the second straight season that Choi had received Academic All-America honors and the third consecutive time she had earned academic all-conference accolades. Choi finished her first season in the WAC ranked second in the conference in assists per game with 11.97 while leading the team in total assists 1,173 and assists per game. Choi recorded 30 sets or more in 23 of the Aggies' 27 matches last season and topped the 50-assist mark six times. Choi was also a force offensively as she finished seventh in the WAC in service aces per game (0.30) while finishing second on the team in total service aces with 29. She registered at least one ace in 13 matches last season and connected on at least three or more three times. Choi finished the season with at least three kills in 26 of 27 matches and had five or more kills on 10 occasions. She tallied 10 or more attack attempts 13 times, including in nine of the last 10 matches while hitting over .400 11 times. Defensively, Choi was once again a constant presence at the net and in the back row. She finished the season with three or more digs in 25 of the 27 matches and at least three total blocks 16 times. Choi currently ranks fifth on the Aggies' all-time assists list with 2,493 career assists. Choi needs just 599 more to take over third place on the all-time list. Choi also finished last season ranked 10th on the Aggies' single-season assists list (1,173) and fourth on the single-season assists per game list (11.97). In the first match of the Hilton Las Cruces Classic against Cincinnati (9/3), Choi tied the record for service aces in match with six versus the Bearcats. Choi started her second season as the Aggies' setter well as she led NMSU to a 3-0 sweep of I-25 rival New Mexico (8/29) with 39 assists, four kills, three digs and three total blocks. On Sept. 17 at Wyoming, Choi again led the Aggies to a sweep as she tallied five kills and hit .571 while recording six digs and six total blocks on the defensive end. In the Aggies' WAC home opener versus Fresno State (9/29), Choi quickly reminded the Bulldogs why she was a preseason all-conference pick as she registered 51 assists and six kills while hitting .545. In her first match versus Hawai'i (10/1), Choi helped the Aggies to a near upset of the No. 11 Rainbow Wahine as she tallied 49 assists, five kills and five digs in the 3-2 loss. In a 3-0 win at Fresno State (10/13), Choi was a force defensively as she finished the match with six digs and 49 assists while tying a season high with six total blocks. On Oct. 27 at Idaho, Choi fell just short of her first career triple-double as she amassed 46 assists, 15 digs and tied a career high with nine kills. Choi would get her second career kills match a week later as she vested Nevada for nine kills, nine digs, three total blocks while hitting .444. On Nov. 17 at Hawai'i, Choi was at it again as the she set a career high with 66 assists while collecting nine digs in a five-game loss. At the 2006 WAC Championships, Choi averaged 47.5 assists, six kills, 4.5 digs and 4.5 total blocks as the Aggies advanced to the semifinals.
2004 (RED SHIRT SOPHOMORE): Choi, who started every game for the Aggies at the setter position and helped lead NMSU to its second straight undefeated conference season and NCAA Tournament appearance, had one of the best first-year campaigns in school history. She was named the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year and a first team All-Sun Belt selection after finishing third in the conference in total assists and assists per game. She also led all setters in the conference in total blocks and blocks per game. Choi ended the season ranked seventh on the Aggies' single season assists list with 1,320 assists and fifth on the single season assists per game list with 11.79 assists per game. She tied for the team lead in aces with 46 and finished with 128 kills on the season. Defensively, Choi was also a force, ending the season third on the team in blocks with 96 and fourth in digs with 278. Choi, who has a 4.0 grade-point-average in Economics and Accounting, was also successful off the court. She became just the second Aggie to earn Academic All-America honors when she was named a third team CoSIDA Academic All-American. She was named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner's List for student-athletes with a grade-point-average of 3.5 or higher. In the Aggies' first match of the season, Choi made an immediate impact as she registered a match-high six aces while added 35 assists, four kills and five total blocks in a 3-1 win over Weber State at the Bronco Invitational in Boise, Idaho. In the championship match of the Idaho State Classic (9/18), Choi, who was named to the All-Tournament team, recorded a career-high 19 digs, a match-high 50 assists while adding seven kills and five total blocks. On Sept. 28 against I-10 rival UTEP, Choi tied a season high with eight kills while adding 16 digs and three blocks vs. the Miners. Heading into conference action, Choi didn't miss a beat as she recorded eight double-digit dig matches and eight 50-plus assist matches in league play. In a five-game match at Arkansas-Little Rock (10/10), Choi notched a career-best 59 assists while adding 11 digs and five total blocks in the win. At North Texas (11/5), Choi tallied 53 assists, 17 digs and three total blocks in a four-game win over the Mean Green. In the first round of the Aeropostale Sun Belt Conference Volleyball Championships, Choi notched a career-high seven total blocks while adding 10 digs and 45 assists in a come-from-behind win over North Texas. A night later, Choi was again a force defensively as she notched six total blocks and added eight digs in a win over host New Orleans. Choi also played well offensively, hitting .556 with six kills in the win. In the championship match versus the No. 2 seed Western Kentucky, she registered 48 assists, 11 digs and three total blocks in a sweep of the Lady Toppers.
2003 (SOPHOMORE): Jackie did not play due to red shirting after transferring from Texas Christian University.
2002 (TEXAS CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY) (FRESHMAN): Choi saw action in 58 games for Texas Christian University at setter as well as at the libero position. She finished eighth on TCU's career list for assists with 91 in one season, fifth on TCU's career list for assists per game with 1.57/game and 10th on TCU's single season list for assists with 91. Choi earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal (for a 3.75 GPA or better) and was named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll (for a 3.0 or better).
HIGH SCHOOL: Choi played at Mary Carroll High School for Linda Lindsey, where she earned a variety of accolades. She was named District MVP and to the All-South Texas first team during her junior year. As a sophomore, Choi earned All-Tournament honors, as well as district, All-Metro and All-South Texas Newcomer of the Year honors. She was selected as both Channel 3 and Channel 6 Academic Athlete of the Week. Choi played for the Corpus Christi Volleyball Club and head coach Rick VanBrunt. Choi was a member of the National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, Junior Engineering and Technical Society, Junior Statesmen of America, Junior Council, Sophomore Council and Freshman Council.
PERSONAL: Jacqueline Choi was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and is the daughter of Sin Il and Jolayne Choi. She is majoring in Economics and Accounting at New Mexico State.
