JUNIOR (2010): DeVries played in 109 sets for NM
State in 2010 and earned AVCA All-American honors as she was named to the
honorable mention team. It was the
second consecutive time she earned the honor and became only the second NM
State volleyball player to earn multiple All-American honors. Kim Oguh was named an All-American from
2005-07. She finished the year second in the WAC and 31st in the nation with
11.06 assists per set and was a first team All-WAC selection. DeVries continues
to move up the record's ladder with 2,833 assists in her career heading into
her senior year. She is now No. 6 on the
all-time list passing Jill Hendry, who played for NM State from 1987-88.
DeVries was an all-around asset to the team as she posted 68 kills, 20 service
aces (second on team), and averaged 2.19 digs per set (second on team) with 34
blocks. There were 15 matches where DeVries tallied at least 40 assists and her
season-high of 64 assists came when the Aggies fell 3-2 to Utah State in the
quarterfinals of the WAC Tournament. She was second on the team with nine
double-doubles with one of her more impressive performances coming against San
Jose State (9/6) when she tallied 51 assists and 15 digs.
SOPHOMORE (2009): DeVries
played all 103 sets in 2010 and earned AVCA All-American honors after leading
the Aggies with 10.14 assists per set. She finished the season with 1,044
assists while she added 216 digs and 51 kills.
DeVries also earned AVCA All-West Region Team honors, as well as first
team All-WAC honors and WAC All-Tournament team honors. She was also an Academic All-WAC selection
and posted eight double-doubles on the season.
DeVries marked at least 25 assists in 24 matches and tallied at least 40
assists in nine matches. She posted a
career-high 66 assists against Idaho (11/7) as the Aggies won in five sets at
home. DeVries started the season with 59
assists against Southern Methodist (8/28) and followed that with 48 assists
against Northern Colorado (8/29). She tallied a career-high five kills on seven
attempts when the Aggies defeated San Jose State (10/24) in four sets in the
Pan American Center. DeVries finished the year with 49 assists against Colorado
State (11/28), who went on to the NCAA Tournament. Her work on the court helped her team to a
top-50 national ranking in assists as the Aggies posted 12.70 assists per set.
FRESHMAN (2008): After
playing in 120 of 121 sets in 2008, DeVries earned 2008 All-WAC freshman team
honors. She finished the season second
on the team in assists and service aces with 584 and 29 respectively, averaging
4.87 assists per set. DeVries also had
198 digs on the year, which was good enough for fourth on the team. Tallying at least 15 assists in 25 matches
played, DeVries started the season off with a season-high 25 assists against
nationally ranked Oregon (8/29) in the State Farm Illini Classic in Champaign,
Ill. In the first rivalry game of her career,
DeVries posted 17 assists and two sevices aces against UTEP (9/3) as the Aggies
won in straight sets. In a 3-1 win over
UC-Santa Barbara (9/13), DeVries came up with 19 assists, and a season-high 10
digs. She posted 22 assists against
Louisiana Tech (10/30), and 23 at Nevada (11/6) and 22 versus San Jose State
(11/21) as NM State dominated conference play with a 15-1 record. DeVries wrapped up her season marking 23
assists against in-state rival New Mexico (11/28) before marking 17 assists in
round one of the NCAA Tournament and 19 in round two.
HIGH SCHOOL: DeVries
attended high school at Douglas High School and played for the Front Range
Volleyball club as a setter. She helped
her team to a 15th-place finish at nationals in 2007, a fifth-place finish in
2006 and a national championship in 2005.
DeVries was also an All-American Award winner at the 2007 AAU
Championships. At Douglas High School
she was part of the National Honor Society and graduated with honors in May of
2008.
PERSONAL: DeVries is the daughter of
Dwight and Paula Devries. She is working
towards a degree in Individualized Studies with a minor in family and child
science.
