2006 ACADEMIC ALL-WAC TEAM
2006 (JUNIOR): Jordan Bostic was a consistent figure in the back row for the Aggies in 2006. She made an appearance in all 37 matches along with 11 starts as a defensive specialist. Bostic ranked second on the team in digs (311) and digs per game (2.47). She had 13 double-figure digit performances last year. In the Aggies third match of the season, Bostic tallied 12 digs against Texas Tech (8/26) in the UTEP/Sun Bowl Invitational, which was her first double-digit showing of the season. The following week Bostic began a four-match span of double-digit performances starting with 11 digs against Florida A&M (9/1). She also had 15 digs versus Florida A&M (9/2) in the second match of the series. In the opening match of the Hilton Las Cruces Classic, Bostic had a match-high 17 digs against Wyoming (9/7). In the next match, she supplied 10 digs in the three-game sweep of Idaho State (9/8). In the Aggies first meeting with New Mexico in Albuquerque (9/11), Bostic had a match-high 13 digs in the three-game sweep. During the WAC opening weekend, Bostic tallied 13 digs versus Boise State (9/23) in a three-game sweep. Seven days later, Bostic posted 10 digs against Nevada (9/30), which was the Aggies first loss of the season. Against UTEP (10/4), she had another solid performance against a rival with 14 digs. Bostic became only the seventh Aggie to record 1,000 career digs when she recorded seven at Louisiana Tech (10/6). Currently, she is sixth on the NMSU career list with 1,126 digs. Bostic also provided an offensive presence last season with 35 service aces and 40 assists. In the upset of No. 11 Hawai’i (10/13), she had a career-high six aces, which is tied for second on the single-match record in five-games. Bostic was a vital factor in the match when she scored the game point in both the second and fourth frames. At Boise State (11/2), Bostic recorded her best conference performance of the season with 16 digs and three aces in the three-game sweep. When the Aggies returned to the Pan American Center for the first time in 2006, Bostic began a three-match run of double-figure dig performances with 10 against Fresno State (11/16). She also had 10 digs in the regular season finale versus San Jose State (11/18) and 11 digs in the quarterfinals match of the WAC Tournament against Boise State (11/22). In addition to her success on the court, Bostic was also honored for her work in the classroom when she was named to the first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI and All-WAC Academic Team for the second-consecutive season.
2005 (SOPHOMORE): After a solid freshman campaign with the Aggies, Bostic returned to the back row in 2005 and established herself as one of the top liberos in the conference. Bostic started all 27 matches for the Aggies and led the team in both digs (463) and digs per game (4.72) while she earned second team All-WAC honors. She finished second in the WAC in digs and digs per game while leading NMSU in digs 21 times in 2005. Bostic tallied 10 or more digs in all but five matches last season, including 10 straight contests from Sept. 29 to Oct. 29. She ranks fifth in digs in a single-season (463) and tied for third in digs in a four-game match (30 vs. Idaho, 10/27). Bostic was also a force offensively; for the second-straight season as she finished the year with 16 assists and 28 service aces while recording two or more aces on seven different occasions. Bostic also made her presence felt in the classroom when she was named first team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District VI and All-WAC Academic Team. Bostic began her first season as the starting libero in great form as the sophomore registered 13 or more digs in four of her first five matches. In the season opening against New Mexico (8/29), Bostic anchored the defense with 13 digs as the Aggies swept their I-25 rivals. In the championship match of the Hilton Las Cruces Classic against Cincinnati (9/3), Bostic again backstopped the Aggies to a 3-1 win over the Bearcats with a match-high 19 digs. A week later in the UTEP Invitational title match (9/10), Bostic recorded 16 digs as NMSU swept past the host Miners. In the WAC home opener against Fresno State (9/29), Bostic posted her first of three straight matches with 20 or more digs as she had 20 versus the Bulldogs in a four-game win. Two days later, in her first showdown with No. 11 Hawai'i (10/1), Bostic registered 25 digs in a tough five-game loss to the Rainbow Wahine. Against I-10 rival UTEP at the Pan American Center (10/5), Bostic again solidified the Aggie defense as she had 22 digs and added two aces in a three-game sweep of the Miners. In back-to-back matches at Fresno State (10/13) and San Jose State (10/15), Bostic averaged 23.5 digs per match as the Aggies swept both road contests. Two weeks later against Idaho (10/27), Bostic registered the best match of her career as she finished with a career-high 30 digs and three aces in a sweep of the Vandals. In her second match against New Mexico (11/7), Bostic again guided the Aggies to victory as she posted 20 digs and an ace in a 3-1 win. Against Utah Sate (11/12), she dug 28 balls and added another ace as NMSU defeated the navy-clad Aggies in four games. In the regular season final at No. 9 Hawai'i (11/17), Bostic had 17 digs and two aces as the Aggies took the Rainbow Wahine to five games for the second straight match. In her first WAC Tournament, Bostic averaged 21 digs as the Aggies advanced to the semifinals.
2004 (FRESHMAN): In her first season of collegiate volleyball, Bostic made a name for herself with lethal serving and solid defense in the back row. An outside hitter in high school, Bostic moved to defensive specialist as a freshman and played in every game for the Aggies while starting in 25 matches. She finished third on the team in digs (352) and digs per game (3.14) while helping NMSU finish second in the Sun Belt and No. 33 nationally in digs per game (18.23). Bostic registered 19 double-digit dig matches and in six matches she tallied 15 or more digs. Offensively, she was a force at the service line as she finished fifth on the team with 42 aces. Bostic recorded at least one ace in 22 of the 33 matches and had two or more aces 12 times. She burst onto the collegiate scene in just her third match of the season as she tallied 13 digs in the championship match of the Bronco Invitational against Boise State (9/4). A week later, Bostic led the Aggie defense with a career-high 20 digs in a sweep of South Dakota State in the Hilton Las Cruces Classic Championship match. Against 1-25 rival New Mexico (9/14), Bostic notched four aces and 12 digs in a come-from-behind victory over the Lobos. In conference play, Bostic was just as strong as she tallied 11 of her double-digit dig matches against Sun Belt opponents. At Arkansas-Little Rock (10/10), Bostic registered her second 19-dig match of the season as the Aggies defeated the Trojans in five games to remain perfect in league play. Her performance at UALR sparked a four-match run where she had 10 or more kills in each of the contests, including wins over conference powers Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky. At I-10 rival UTEP (10/26), Bostic helped the Aggies earn redemption for an early-season loss to the Miners with a match-high 19 digs in a three-game sweep in El Paso. In the opening round of the 2005 Aeropostale Sun Belt Conference Tournament, Bostic led the Aggies to a come-from-behind win over North Texas as she recorded a career-high five aces and added 13 digs in a 3-1 win. In the championship match versus Western Kentucky, Bostic again was solid on defense as she tallied 13 digs in a three-game sweep of the Lady Toppers. In her first dose of NCAA Tournament play, Bostic rose to the occasion as she led the Aggie defense with 13 digs in a loss to the No. 9 seed San Diego in the first round of the tournament.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bostic is a 2004 graduate of Franklin High School in El Paso, Texas, and played for head coach Flo Valdez. As a senior, Bostic finished the season with 558 kills, 95 aces, 115 blocks and 412 digs, leading Franklin to its sixth consecutive District 1-5A title and the regional quarterfinals for the second-consecutive year. She was named Price's Miss Volleyball in 2003. Bostic was named the most valuable player by the El Paso Times and to the 2003 all-city team for the second-straight year. She was selected to the Texas Coaches Association's Class 5A All-State academic teams and was a two-time District 1-5A Most Valuable Player. Bostic guided Franklin to an undefeated home and district playoff record in her career. She was named to the Duncanville All-Tournament team and the El Paso Independent School District Invitational Most Valuable Player in 2003. As a sophomore, Bostic earned first team all-city honors from the El Paso Times and earned outstanding hitter honors for District 1-5A.
PERSONAL: Jordan L. Bostic was born in Tampa, Fla., and is the daughter of Don and Debra Jo Bostic. She is majoring in journalism.
