Biography

2004 (JUNIOR): Silagy played 31 of 33 matches and was a key component in the Aggies' second straight undefeated conference season and NCAA Tournament appearance. She finished third on the team in kills (233), kills per game (2.35) and fourth in total blocks with 67. Silagy registered a total of seven double-digit kill matches and recorded a hitting percentage of .300 or better on seven occasions. She also recorded a least one block in all but three of her matches last season. Against Gonzaga (9/18) in the second match of the 2004 Idaho State Classic, Silagy led the Aggies to a sweep over the Bulldogs with a match-high 14 kills and a .538 hitting percentage. On Oct. 5, Silagy again led the Aggies to a big win as she tied a match high with 10 kills and added three blocks as NMSU swept I-25 rival New Mexico at the Pan American Center. After a strong non-conference season, Silagy continued her solid play throughout the conference season. Against Florida International (10/24), she tied a career high with seven total blocks and added five kills in a three-game sweep of the Golden Panthers. The next week, Silagy picked up the offense as she notched a season-high 16 kills and hit .250 in a 3-1 win over Arkansas State at home. Silagy was named to the Aeropostale Sun Belt Conference Championships All-Tournament Team after registering double-digit kills in all three tournament matches to help the Aggies win their second straight conference tournament title. In the opening round match versus North Texas, she notched 13 kills and three blocks while hitting .242 as NMSU came from behind to win in four games. Against host New Orleans in a second-round match, Silagy led the Aggies with a match-high 15 kills as NMSU advanced in four games. In the championship match, Silagy continued to play well as she tallied 13 kills, hitting .417 with four blocks and two digs as the Aggies swept second-seeded Western Kentucky. In the Aggies' first round NCAA Tournament match versus the No. 9 seed San Diego, Silagy picked up right where she had led off at the conference tournament a week earlier, tallying a team-high eight kills and hitting .421.

2003 (SOPHOMORE): Silagy played 34 matches and 116 games for the Aggies in 2003. She finished fourth on the team in kills (276) and kills per game (2.38), fifth in total blocks (58) and sixth in digs (91) while recording a .239 hitting percentage. She earned Sun Belt academic honors for recording a 3.0 GPA or higher during the past year. She recorded 10 double-digit kill totals and hit over .300 on 13 occasions. She recorded career highs in kills (18) against Western Kentucky (10/17), blocks (7) against UTEP (11/4) and digs (9) against Louisiana-Lafayette (11/7). She recorded at least one total block in all but six matches during the season.

2002 (FRESHMAN): Sarah appeared in 25 matches and 53 games. She finished seventh on the team in kills (92) while recording 37 digs, 13 blocks and three service aces. She recorded a season-high 10 kills and a career-high two service aces against Texas-Pan American (11/14). She recorded a season-high eight digs against Texas Tech (11/17) while recording two blocks on three occasions.

HIGH SCHOOL: She averaged 18 kills per match as a senior at Simi Valley High School and was named Defensive Player of the Year her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons, while also being named scholar athlete as a freshman and sophomore.

PERSONAL: Sarah M. Silagy was born in Simi Valley, Calif., and is the daughter of Richard and Barbara Silagy. She is majoring in Criminal Justice at New Mexico State.
