Biography

2010 (FRESHMAN): Tamura played in 36 sets for NM State in 2010 at tallied 46 digs, averaging 1.28 per set.  In her first appearance in an Aggie uniform, Tamura marked 17 digs to go along with a service ace as the Aggies defeated Florida International (8/27) in four sets. Tamura did not allow a serve-receiving error in 15 attempts that afternoon. She tallied a season-high eight digs at UTEP (9/7) as NM State swept the Miners for the second time in the season.  Tamura had five matches where she came up with at least five digs and finished the year with five assists and two service aces.

HIGH SCHOOL: Tamura graduated from Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, and played volleyball alongside fellow Aggie Deirdre Pajares.  Tamura lettered three years (2007-09) and played under coach Sherri Hankins.  While there she led the Cowgirls to district championships in 2007 and 2008, while the team was an area finalist in 2008 and 2009.  She finished her high school career with 1,826 digs and 60 aces. In 2007, she was named a Dallas Morning News Player of the Week (honorable mention) and was also named to the PrepVolleyball.com Sophomore Elite team (honorable mention).  During the 2008 season, Tamura was named the J. Eckert Tournament Most Valuable Player and the PrepVolleyball.com Defensive Dandy Team (honorable mention).  She also earned special recognition on the LoneStarVolleyball.com All-Texas Team as a defensive specialist and was given the all-state high school award (honorable mention) from LoneStarVolleyball.com.  Tamura was also a Texas Sportswriters Association 5A All-State member (third team) in 2009.  The honors didn't stop for Tamura as she was on the Dallas Morning News All-Area libero second team and named to the all-tournament teams at the Allen Texas Open and the J. Eckert Tournament.  She was also the District 6-5A Defensive Player of the Year and the CHS varsity defensive MVP.  Tamura was a PrepVolleyball.com third team Defensive Dandies honoree and a LoneStarVolleyball.com state defensive finalist after the 2009 season.  Playing for the Texas Advantage Volleyball top club team since 2004, Tamura led her team to a fifth-place finish at the Junior Olympics in 2007.

PERSONAL: Tamura was born in Irving, Texas, and is the daughter of Bob and Kathy Tamura.  She is majoring in graphic design.
