Biography

2012 (REDSHIRT JUNIOR): Ziegler was one of four girls who appeared in all 124 sets in 2012 with 377 digs, 19 service aces, 28 assists, 26 kills and 12 assisted blocks. Ziegler recorded 203 digs in conference play, as well as 24 kills and 12 service aces. In the WAC Tournament, she tallied 55 digs for 5.50 digs per set. Ziegler led NM State defensively in digs with 3.04 per set and also held the season record for digs in a game with 27 to help the Aggies win the WAC Tournament Championship game versus Idaho (Nov. 21). She also totaled six kills while playing Idaho (Nov. 15) and three service aces facing Utah State (Nov. 20).

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2011): After breaking her leg during the 2010 season, Ziegler came back strong during her medical redshirt sophomore year, missing just one set the entire season.  She finished ranked in the top 5 in most team categories for the Aggies in 2011 including third in kills and kills/set with 243 and 2.17 respectively, fourth in digs with 250, fifth in assists with 17 and fifth also in service aces with 13.  Ziegler also finished sixth on the NM State squad with 40 blocks on the season.

SOPHOMORE (2010): Although Ziegler played in 15 sets (seven matches) she was awarded a medical red shirt after suffering from a broken leg in a match against Rice (9/10) that ended her season.  Before the injury she tallied 12 kills with a season-high seven kills at UTEP (9/7).  Ziegler also finished the year with one service ace, five digs and nine total blocks.

FRESHMAN (2009): Ziegler played in 40 sets (19 matches) for NM State during the 2009 season posting 1.17 kills per set and 1.17 digs per set.  Against nationally-ranked Illinois (9/5), Ziegler tallied seven kills and seven digs and was errorless on 21 service receptions, before she had a break-out match against I-10 rival UTEP (9/8) when she led the way to a five-set win with 12 kills, seven digs and a block.  In WAC play, Ziegler tallied seven kills against Fresno State (10/22), seven at Idaho (10/29) and six at Utah State (10/31). She posted a season-high 10 digs against San Jose State (10/24), while one of her service aces came that same day.

HIGH SCHOOL: Ziegler was an outside hitter and setter while at Canyon Del Oro High School in Tucson, Ariz. Ziegler was named player of the year in 2007 for the Sonoran Region and was named outstanding offensive player by her teammates. That season, she helped her team become regional champions and was a first team all-city selection. The team took second in regionals in 2006 and 2008 and made appearances in the state tournament three years in a row. In 2008, Ziegler was named most valuable player by her teammates and received first team all-region honors.

PERSONAL: Ziegler is the daughter of Mark and Kimberly Ziegler and was born in Tucson, Ariz. She is majoring in industrial engineering.
