LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The 2016 American Quarter Horse Association Collegiate Horsemanship Challenge is set to take place November 13-14 as part of the Lucas Oil AQHA World Championship Show in Oklahoma City.

The Horsemanship Challenge has chosen 16 collegiate equestrian riders to participate with eight representing the National Collegiate Equestrian Association and eight to represent the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association.

New Mexico State's Morgan Matzdorff has been selected to participate in this prestigious event. The junior has proven experience in the event as she earned Championship honors in Horsemanship at the 2012 AQHA Novice West Championship. Also in 2012 she was AJPHA Reserve World Champion in the Novice Youth Horsemanship.

In 2013, Matzdorff placed fifth in the 14-18 Horsemanship bracket at the AJPHA World Championship and was named World Champion in the 14-18 Horsemanship at the PtHA World Championships.

The Scottsdale, Arizona natives experience in horsemanship has carried on through her time at NM State. Head coach Robin Walters said, "We are excited to be a part of this great event.  Morgan earned the invitation after having a successful 2015-16 season and I know she will do a great job representing NM State.  We are excited for the opportunity to ride at one of the premier Equestrian events in the country."
