NM State Defeats West Texas A&M in Las Cruces
Aggies take down the Buffaloes with commanding victories in three of the four events
LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State equestrian team were victorious in equitation, horsemanship and reining, while they tied West Texas A&M, 2-2, in equitation over fences. The great day of events, by the equestrian team, resulted in a final of 12-4.
Erica Rosinski (56),
Megan Armijo (60),
Grace McMurry (65) and Remington Wilkie (72) each earned a point to sweep the Buffaloes in equitation. Remington Wilkie also earned Most Outstanding Player for the event.
In horsemanship, the team saw
Katlynn Crine (74),
Quinn Brandt (74) and
Alyssa Luckhardt (74.5), earn the Aggie points for a 3-1 victory. Another Most Outstanding Player was awarded to an Aggie, as
Alyssa Luckhardt took home the honor.
Another 3-1 victory was earned in reining as Jamie Story (71), Kimmy Ferrante (69) and
Allison Nordvall (67) earned the points for NM State. The remaining event, equitation over fences, resulted in a 2-2 tie with
Madison Brayman (85) and
Karianna Knezevich capturing those points. Brayman also earned Most Outstanding Player in this event.
The victory will cap off the team's fall season as the team will take a break and return to action on Jan. 28 against Texas A&M in Las Cruces, N.M.
