WACO, Texas – The National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) announced the American Quarter Horse Association NCEA Academic Teams and American Paint Horse Associations NCEA Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. New Mexico State equestrian saw 10 riders recognized for success in the arena and classroom throughout 2016-17.
The American Quarter Horse Association NCEA Academic First Team requires student-athletes to compete in a minimum of 70 percent of the school's meets with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 while maintaining full enrollment in the spring and fall semesters.
Student-athletes who earn academic second team selections must have competed in a minimum of 60 percent of the school's meets with a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Honorable mention selections have competed in a minimum of 50 percent of the teams meets with a cumulative GPA of 3.0.
The American Paint Horse Association NCEA Academic Honor Roll recognizes the top academic student-athletes who earn a cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in spring and fall semesters.
