LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The United Equestrian Conference released post-season awards on Monday afternoon. The awards featured five Aggies earning three awards and three All-Conference nominations after an impressive 2016-17 season.
In addition to receiving a community service plaque for work this past year with Las Cruces Bantam Weight Sports youth football program on March 4,
Jaimie Story added the UEC Sportsmanship Award to her list of accolades on Monday for the seniors outstanding character, integrity and dedication to the sport.
Madison Brayman earned the Equitation over Fences Rider of the Year award after an impressive campaign in 2016-17. The junior compiled a record of 9-2-1, including four Most Outstanding Player nods this season. One of Brayman's best performances came in an 85-81 win against Texas A&M which helped the Aggies to victory over the nation's top-ranked opponent.
During the Aggies first season of competition,
Alyssa Luckhardt was recognized as the Horsemanship Freshman of the Year in the UEC. This season saw the Saline, Mich. native add three wins in the event including a Most Outstanding Player honor in a victory against West Texas A&M.
With the awards, three Aggies also were named to the UEC All-Conference teams in their events. This list included Brayman in Equitation over Fences,
Katlynn Crine for Horsemanship and
Kimberly Ferrante earning the honor in Reining.
The New Mexico State equestrian team will wrap up their season at the National Collegiate Equestrian Association Championships, April 12-15, in Waco, Texas.
