Box Score 2 ORLANDO, Fla. – The NM State softball team fell 3-0 to Purdue and dropped a 3-0 decision to UCF on Tuesday in their first day of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.
Game One The Aggies (20-12) had five hits and left six runners on base against Purdue.
Emma Adams went 2-for-3.
Karysta Donisthorpe pitched 6.1 innings and had six strikeouts in 24 batters faced.
Purdue (14-10) scored three runs and had three RBIs on three hits. Lilly Fecho pitched 7.0 innings and allowed five hits in 27 batters faced.
After two scoreless inning, Purdue took the lead in the top of the third inning. Heather Knight was walked and advanced to second on a ground out. Knight scored as Kristen Hoppman hit a double to right center to give Purdue a 1-0 advantage.
The Aggies put seven runners on base in the first six innings.
Victoria Castro was walked in the second inning, but was left stranded. In the third inning,
Brennalyn Nakamura hit a single to left center and advanced to second as
Haley Nakamura fouled out. B. Nakamura was left stranded.
In the top of the fifth inning, Castro was walked and advanced to second as B. Nakamura grounded out, but she was left stranded. Adams hit a single to left field and advanced to second as
Kelsey Horton singled to left field, but both runners were left stranded.
Purdue extended their lead in the top of the sixth and seventh innings. Hoppman hit a bunt single and stole second base. She then advanced to third base as Mary Gooding hit a single to right field. Hoppman scored as Katie Harrison hit a sacrifice fly to left field. In the seventh inning, Mallory Baker was walked and Maya Hughes entered as a pinch runner. Hughes advanced to second on a ground out and then stole third. Hughes scored as Knight grounded out to give Purdue a 3-0 win.
Game Two The Aggies had four hits and seven runners left on base against UCF.
Makayla McAdams pitched 2.1 innings and had three strikeouts in 13 batters faced.
UCF (20-10) scored three runs and had three RBIs on six hits. Shelby Turnier pitched 4.0 innings and allowed one hit in 16 batters faced.
UCF took the lead first. In the first inning, Cassady Brewer hit a single to left field and advanced to third as Jasmine Acevedo reached first on an Aggie error. Brewer scored as Willow Kalinen singled up the middle. In the second inning, Courtney Rotton was walked and scored as Jessica Ujvari hit a triple down the left field line. Samantha McCloskey then hit a single to left field to score Ujvari as the Knights took a 3-0 advantage.
The Aggies had six runners reach base. Adams was walked and Horton was hit by pitch in the first inning. In the second inning,
Tatum Reedy hit a single to left field. After B. Nakamura was walked, she stole second in the fourth inning.
Mendoza was walked and Finau reached on a fielder's choice in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Horton hit a single to the shortstop and stole second base3. Glackin reached on a fielder's choice and then stole second, but the runners in each inning were left stranded as the Knights captured the win.
The Aggies take the field again tomorrow as they face UCF at 11:00 a.m. CT in their final game of the UCF Spring Fling at the UCF Softball Complex.
