LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team looks to stay hot in Western Athletic Conference play as they head to the Windy City for the second and final conference cluster of the year.

The Aggies look to take their 2-0 record in WAC play and come out on top as they take on UMKC (April 1), Chicago State (April 2) and Seattle U (April 3).

KAUR POWER TIMES TWO!For the second-straight week, NM State sophomore
Rimpledeep Kaur was named the WAC Player of the Week for women's tennis. The Jassawol, India, product went undefeated and helped NM State extend its win-streak to five with a pair of wins on Easter Sunday.

Kaur gave up only three points in singles action while playing at the top singles position for the Aggies. She first dominated Lisa Roslanova of Texas-Permian Basin 6-0, 6-1 before taking down Ashley Newell of Western New Mexico 6-0, 6-2 in the second match of the day for her fifth-straight victory in singles.

Kaur then teamed up with
Ashvarya Shrivastav to pick up a pair of wins against UTPB and WNMU's doubles teams 6-4 and 6-1, respectively. The two have now won four of their last five doubles matches.

AND THE BEAT KEEPS GOINGAfter going on a five-match skid, the NM State women's tennis team has countered that with a five-match winning-streak as they head into the final stretch of WAC play in the regular-season.

The Aggies have been most successful at the No. 6 singles position (10 wins) and No. 2 singles position (nine wins) while the No. 2 doubles team leads with nine wins.

Ashvarya Shrivastav still leads New Mexico State in singles with 14 wins, but seniors
Mia Brandt and
Erika Castillo Lopez are right on her tails with 13 and 11 wins, respectively.

Rimpledeep Kaur rocks the best dual record in singles play, checking in at 8-3 and 2-0 in league play. Brandt is second on the team at 7-5 while Castillo Lopez, Shrivastav, Jolliff and Harlas are tied at six wins apiece.

In doubles play, Kaur and Shrivastav is the first doubles team to reach double-digit wins (10-7) for NM State while Harlas and Jolliff are close behind at 8-5.

CONFERENCE CLUSTER PART DEUXMissouri-Kansas City will be the first road-block for NM State in its pursuit of an undefeated regular-season. The 'Roos are 6-11 on the year and have split their last six matches, including a 1-1 effort in the first WAC cluster in Phoenix. UMKC first defeated Seattle U 4-3 before falling to UTRGV 5-2. The match against UMKC is slated to begin at 11:15 a.m. (MT) on Friday, April 1.

Next up for the Aggies this weekend will be the host, Chicago State, on Saturday, April 2, at 12:45 p.m. The Cougars are 3-14 on the year, but recently snapped at four-match losing-streak when it downed Valparaiso 7-0. In the last conference cluster, CSU went 0-2 after dropping matches to Grand Canyon and UTRGV – 7-0.

The Aggies will wrap up conference play and its weekend against Seattle U on Saturday, April 3, in an extremely early match at 6:45 a.m. (MT). The Redhawks are 8-10 on the year and 0-2 in the WAC. SU has also lost its last three matches since winning three-straight matches before that skid began.

UP NEXTThe Aggies continue its road-swing after the completion of WAC play as they head down I-10 for a battle with UTEP on Friday, April 15.

New Mexico State then returns home for its final match at the NMSU Tennis Center against New Mexico at 10 a.m. on Sunday, April 17, before heading off to Brownsville, Texas, for the WAC Tennis Championships (April 29 – May 1).
