LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State equestrian team won both hunter seat events, but it was not enough as they fell to No. 2 Georgia 12-7 on Saturday at the New Mexico State Equestrian Center.
Grace McMurry earned a 68,
Remington Willkie scored a 69 and
Madison Brayman had a 66 as each captured a point for the Aggies to give the home team a 3-2 win in equitation on the flat. Willkie was named MOP of that event as well.
NM State collected a 3-2 win in equitation over fences. Brayman had an 86 and Willkie and Perlman both scored a 77 to collect points for the Aggies. Brayman earned MOP in equitation over fences. NM State won the hunter seat portion of the competition 6-4.
The Aggies fell 4-1 in horsemanship and 4-0 in reining.
Morgan Matzdorff scored a 75.5 to earn a point for NM State in horsemanship.
The Aggies compete again on Mar. 25 as they host the UEC Championships. Competition will begin at 10:00 a.m. MT.
