Crimson Sweeps in Four Sets in Crimson and White Scrimmage

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – NM State volleyball ended the preseason with their annual Crimson and White Scrimmage on Saturday at the Pan American Center. The Crimson team swept the four-set match by a 25-20, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23 decision.

"I was really happy with the performance of our young players, which we have a lot of," said head coach Mike Jordan. "I thought we showed a lot of athletic ability. We are still unsettled with lineups, and I think we can change and go back and forth quite a bit. Overall, I thought we played really good defense and passed the ball pretty well. We have to serve better by next weekend, and hopefully figure out a lineup we can stick in more often."

For the scrimmage, the Aggie roster was split into two rotating teams, Crimson and White. The two teams were also joined by former NM State greats Krystal Torres and Nathalie Castellanos.

The Crimson team faired the first three sets with relative ease taking them with scores of 25-20, 25-18 and 25-20, respectively. However, in the fourth and final set, Crimson looked to be in trouble as White led for most of the frame. Eventually, Crimson regained control and took the match and set by a score of 25-23.

The Aggies begin the 2016 campaign on Aug. 26 at the UNLV Invitational against Albany and UC Santa Barbara. The season-opening weekend in Las Vegas will continue on Aug. 27 with a matchup against host UNLV.
