LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The NM State women's tennis team will get its first test on the road in 2017 this weekend when it travels to Sin City for a trio of matches at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the campus of UNLV.
First up for the Aggies will be the host, UNLV, on Friday, Jan. 20. NM State looks to bounce back from last year's loss to the Rebels, 7-0. The following day, New Mexico State will square off against Pacific before wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, Jan. 22, against Weber State. All three matches are scheduled to start at 11 a.m. (MT) for New Mexico State.
The Aggies look to make up for last year's loss against the Rebels and Tigers last year and hopes to continue its win-streak against the Wildcats. UNLV took last year's contest 7-0 while the Tigers defeated NM State 5-2. The Aggies were triumphant against the Wildcats, 5-2.
New Mexico State opened its dual season last week in the friendly confines of the NM State Tennis Center with a 5-2 victory over Central Oklahoma. Freshman
Vanessa Valdez won in doubles play and clinched the match for NM State with her victory in singles action. Valdez played at the No. 2 position in both matches.
