@NMStateWSOC Heads to Utah Valley and Seattle U for WAC Action

NM State heads on the road for Western Athletic Conference action at Utah Valley and Seattle U.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's soccer team hits the road for more Western Athletic Conference play beginning with Utah Valley on Thursday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. (MT). The Aggies head to Seattle U for a 1 p.m. match on Saturday, Oct. 14.
 
 
HART NAMED WAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
  • Forward Devin Hart took home WAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the first time in her collegiate career.
  • She assisted in setting the equalizer during the CSU Bakersfield match, which ultimately led to a 2-2 draw.
  • Hart scored the first goal for NM State against Grand Canyon, giving the team an early 1-0 lead.
  • In the 102nd minute, Hart scored the golden goal, lifting the Aggies past Grand Canyon, 2-1.
 
AGGIES DEFEAT ARIZONA CHRISTIAN IN OVERTIME TO CONCLUDE NON-CONFERENCE SEASON
  • New Mexico State closed out the non-conference season on a high note as it held on for the 3-2 overtime win against Arizona Christian.
  • Forward Devin Hart scored the first two goals for the Aggies, coming at 9:59 and 46:46.
  • Firestorm's Veronica Cruz and Marisa Ortiz each got the ball around Aggie goalkeeper Dmitri Fong in the second half, sending the match into overtime.
  • In the 95th minute of play, midfielder Alexandria Otero made a cross to forward Audriana Chavez who scored the game-winning goal on a header.
 
NM STATE SETTLES FOR DRAW AGAINST CSU BAKERSFIELD IN CONFERENCE OPENER
  • In another double-overtime battle, the Aggies and Roadrunners settled for a 2-2 tie during the Oct. 6 match.
  • CSU Bakersfield took an early 1-0 lead when Aminah Settles maneuvered the ball around NM State goalkeeper Dmitri Fong.
  • The Aggies trailed 2-0 early in the second half when Roadrunner Jordan Martinez found the back of the net.
  • At 81:09, midfielder Aileen Galicia powered the ball into the net, cutting CSU Bakersfield's lead to 2-1.
  • In the 88th minute of action, forward Devin Hart made a pass to Galicia to score the equalizer.
  • After two overtime segments, NM State and CSU Bakersfield settled for a draw when no shots made it past either goalkeeper.
 
AGGIES TAKE DOWN GRAND CANYON IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME
  • In a thrilling, double-overtime match, New Mexico State came out on top as it defeated WAC competitor Grand Canyon, 2-1, on Oct. 8.
  • At 12:50, midfielder Aileen Galicia passed the ball to forward Devin Hart who found the back of the net, giving the Aggies a 1-0 lead.
  • Several minutes later, the Lopes' McKenzie Cook evened the score with a goal of her own.
  • NM State and GCU remained scoreless through the second half and the first overtime segment.
  • In the 102nd minute of the match, Galicia found Hart wide open and made a cross in which Hart scored the game-winning goal for the Aggies.
 
SNEAK PEEK: NEW MEXICO STATE AT UTAH VALLEY
  • The Aggies take on Utah Valley for the first road game of Western Athletic Conference action. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. (MT) on Oct. 12.
  • Chris Lemay enters his first season with the Wolverines as the fourth head coach in Utah Valley's 14-year history.
  • NM State trails UVU with an all-time record of 0-4-2.
 
NM STATE AT SEATTLE U: PREVIEW
  • The Aggies head to the Northwest in search of their first win over Seattle U as the squad currently trails with an overall record of 0-7-0.
  • The Redhawks are led by head coach Julie Woodward, who brings 21-plus years' experience to the team.
  • NM State and Seattle U take the field on Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. (MT).

  • NM State travels to the Windy City as it takes on Chicago State on Friday, Oct. 20, at noon.
  • In the final home match of 2017, the Aggies host University of Missouri-Kansas City at the Soccer Athletic Complex on Sunday, Oct. 22. Kickoff is at noon.

WAC DIGITAL NETWORK TO OFFER MULTIPLE STREAMING PLATFORMS
  • The Western Athletic Conference announced fans will now be able to watch selected conference and tournament games via over-the-top (OTT) applications for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku devices in addition to the WAC Digital Network games.
  • The WDN will be streaming the WAC women's soccer tournament on the OTT platforms.
