@NMStateWSOC Hits the Road to Battle Chicago State

New Mexico State women’s soccer heads to the Windy City to take on Chicago State.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's soccer team hits the road to the Windy City for a battle against Chicago State on Friday, Oct. 20, at noon. The Aggies return home for their final home match of the 2017 season on Sunday, Oct. 22, as they host UMKC at noon. NM State will hold a ceremony at the end of the match to honor its three seniors.
 
NEW MEXICO STATE FALLS TO UTAH VALLEY, 5-2
  • The Aggies succumbed to their first loss in Western Athletic Conference play on Thursday evening as the team fell, 5-2, to Utah Valley.
  • Forward Devin Hart scored the first goal for NM State in the 11th minute of action with assistance from Samantha Afonso.
  • UVU scored four goals later in the match, setting the Aggies back 4-1.
  • Audriana Chavez cut Utah Valley's lead down to 4-2 after she scored a goal off of a penalty kick at 66:05.
  • In the 75th minute, Breanna DeWaal scored the final goal for UVU off of a penalty kick, dealing NM State the 5-2 loss.
 
AGGIES DEFEAT SEATTLE U FOR FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY
  • It was a big day for NM State as it defeated Seattle U, 2-1, on the road Saturday afternoon for the first time in program history.
  • Aileen Galicia passed the ball to Audriana Chavez, who went on to score the first goal for the Aggies at 16:38.
  • Seattle U's Isabelle Butterfield shot the ball around Aggie goalkeeper Dmitri Fong to score the equalizer in the first half.
  • In the 62nd minute of action, Aileen Galicia shot the ball passed Seattle U's goalkeeper with help from Jody Hernandez and ultimately dealt the Redhawks a 2-1 loss.
  • Following the match, Chavez moved into second-place in the NM State record book for most goals in a single-season with eight.
 
PREVIEW: NM STATE AT CHICAGO STATE
  • The Aggies hit the road once again, this time heading to the Windy City to take on Chicago State. Kickoff is at noon on Friday, Oct. 20.
  • New Mexico State currently leads Chicago State with an all-time record of 5-0-0.
  • The Cougars are led by first season head coach, Kevin Meek, who brings over 10 years of coaching experience.
 
FINAL HOME MATCH OF THE 2017 SEASON
  • NM State hosts UMKC at the Soccer Athletic Complex in its final home match of the 2017 season. Kickoff is at noon on Oct. 22.
  • The Aggies will be honoring seniors Devin Hart, Cristina Bertoldo and Danielle Smith in a post-game ceremony.
  • Captain Devin Hart has 14 goals, eight assists and 60 shots-on-goal during her career.
  • Cristina Bertoldo clocked in a total of 1,491 minutes of action during her junior year and 1,111 minutes thus far in 2017.
  • Defender Danielle Smith has a recorded 567 minutes during the 2017 campaign and has a season-high, three shots-on-goal that came against Arizona Christian on Oct. 2.
  • UMKC is led by Chris Cissell, who enters his sixth year as head coach. The Aggies currently trail the Roos with an all-time record of 1-5-1.
