Crucial Contest Against the Lobos Awaits @NMStateWBB at Home

NM State women’s basketball hosts New Mexico for the second installment of the Battle of I-25.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's basketball team takes on Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico at the Pan American Center on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. MT.

GAMEDAY PROMOTIONS
Friday's game against Battle of I-25 rival New Mexico serves as the WHITE OUT. Aggie fans are encouraged to wear white at the game against the Lobos and the first 200 fans are set to receive free t-shirts.
 
TALE AS OLD AS TIME
The match-up between NM State and UNM on Saturday, Dec. 2 is set to be the 78th meeting between the Battle of I-25 rivals dating all the way back to 1973. The Aggies currently hold a record of 28-48 (.368) against the Lobos.
 
Recently, NM State has had the upper hand on their in-state rival posting a 4-2 record over the last four seasons. The most recent contest between the two teams at the Pan American Center resulted in the Aggies taking down the Lobos, 77-70, on Nov. 30, 2016.
 
LOOKING AT THE LOBOS
New Mexico comes into the contest with a perfect 8-0 record on the season including a win over ranked Marquette. The Lobos most recent game came at UTEP for the the teams first road contest of the year. UNM Took down UTEP, 59-35, on Thursday, Nov. 30 at the Don Haskins Center.
 
As a team, the Lobos are shooting .435 from the field and .381 from beyond the arc.  Cherise Baynon leads the team on offense, averaging 15.8 points per game. Jaisa Nunn averages a double-double for the Lobos with 14.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game.
 
In the first meeting between the teams this season, the Aggies fell at UNM 86-75. Offensively, the Aggies were led by Monique Mills, who posted a team-high 20 points in the game. Gia Pack and Zaire Williams posted their first double-doubles of the season in the loss. Pack tallied 18 points and 15 rebounds while Williams recorded 12 points and 12 rebounds.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Aggies went 1-2 during their last week of play. NM State picked up a win at the Pan American Center when the team defeated Texas A&M Corpus Christi 70-61. New Mexico State followed the performance by traveling to El Paso, Texas, for the UTEP Thanksgiving Classic, where the Aggies fell to Texas Southern 66-50 and Arkansas 69-60.
 
UP NEXT: THE RIVALRY CONTINUES
Following the contest against the Lobos, the squad gets set to clash with Battle of I-10 rival UTEP on Sunday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. MT.
