Las Cruces, N.M. – The New Mexico State equestrian team is set to travel to Dallas, Texas for a match up with no. 6 SMU Mustangs at 10 a.m. MT on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Looking forward to another meet against solid competition, head coach Robin Walters said, "Preparation for our first road meet this semester has been going well. We know SMU will be a tough opponent, but the team is committed to give their best effort and we look forward to a great day of competition."
Saturday's competition will begin promptly at 10 a.m. The first event of the day will be equitation over fences as
Madison Brayman,
Karianna Knezevich,
Samantha Perlman,
Erica Rosinski and Remington Wilkie will get things started for the Aggies. Up next will be Reining as
Katherine Arnold,
Kimberly Ferrante,
Kiley Newkirk,
Allison Nordvall and
Hallie Padilla will compete for NM State.
The day will finish off with equitation on the flat and horsemanship running simultaneously as
Madison Brayman,
Karianna Knezevich,
Grace McMurry,
Isabel Walton and Remington Wilkie will compete on the flat, while
Quinn Brandt,
Katlynn Crine,
Alyssa Luckhardt,
Morgan Matzdorff and
Haylee Schoonover will handle horsemanship.
NM State comes in to Saturday's events sitting at 4-4 on the season. The team's most recent meet saw them take down top-ranked Texas A&M at home on Saturday, Jan. 28. The upset of A&M was the first time in program history NM State has taken down the best team in the country.
After the contest with SMU, the team returns home to take on the TCU Horned Frogs on Friday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. MT.
