AGGIES AND VAQUEROS MEET
Saturday's contest against NM State and UT Rio Grande Valley will be the first time the two have squared off since the Aggies left UTRGV Field House with an 83-44 victory on March 5. The Vaqueros are now under the direction of first-year head coach Lew Hill, who has UTRGV entering the game 10-17 overall on the year – which is two more wins that last season with at least four games remaining on its schedule.

UTRGV is 7-4 on the year at home and 2-8 in WAC play so far. The Vaqueros two wins in conference play came against Chicago State, but needed overtime in the second meeting to get the victory. The Aggie defense will need to limit the number of 3-point attempts against UTRGV with the Vaqueros averaging 8.7 triples per game – 3.2 more than the average that NM State has allowed.

Nick Dixon leads all scorers for UTRGV with 18.6 points per game and also paces the team in the rebounding department with 5.2 boards per game. Antonio Green, the Vaqueros lead returning scorer, is second on the team with 16.8 points per game. Lew Stallworth is third on the team in scoring (8.3), but leads the team in assists with 103 while Dixon trails him with 91 dimes on the year.

Dixon is also shooting at a high-rate in conference play, averaging 21.5 points while posting a 5.10 shooting clip. Green, again, is the next best scorer for the Vaqueros – averaging 14.2 points while splashing in 26 shots from downtown.

LAST TIME OUT
Despite heading into halftime down 38-36, the NM State men's basketball team battled back to take a 62-52 lead with 11:45 left to play in the game. However, a scoring drought in the final 8:33 minutes saw Grand Canyon outscore the Aggies 24-6 and hand New Mexico State its second-straight loss. The last time NM State lost back-to-back games was at the end of last season when the Aggies fell in the WAC Championship game and in the first-round of the NIT.

UP NEXT
New Mexico State now wraps up its remaining three games at home, beginning with Utah Valley on Thursday, Feb. 23. The Aggies then finished off the weekend with Seattle U on Saturday, Feb. 25, before hosting UTRGV in a 7 p.m. tilt on Saturday, March 4, to conclude the regular-season.
