@NMStateWten Leaves for a Trio of Matches

The NM State women’s tennis team heads to the heart of Texas for a trio of matches this weekend.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State women's tennis team is set for a three-match road trip this weekend in Texas.

The Aggies first head to Denton, Texas, to battle North Texas at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, before heading to Arlington, Texas, for a pair of matches at the UTA Tennis Center. NM State will open with a match against the Lumberjacks of Stephen F. Austin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 25, before closing out the weekend trip against UT Arlington on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 10 a.m.

NM State heads into this weekend's road swing 3-3 on the year after a 4-0 loss to Houston at home on Feb. 12. North Texas is 2-6 heading into its Friday match-up against the Aggies after dropping its last two against Kansas State (6-1) and Washington State (4-3).

Stephen F. Austin is 3-3 overall on the year and is scheduled to square off against UT Arlington on Friday before facing New Mexico State on Saturday. The Lumberjacks had won three-consecutive matches before it fell to in-state rival UTSA, 6-1, a couple weeks back.

The host, UT Arlington, checks in with a 4-3 mark on the year as it entertains Stephen F. Austin and NM State this weekend. After going on a three-game losing skid, the Mavericks have righted their ship and have won three-straight.

After returning from this trip, NM State will hit the road once again. The Aggies will wrap up their five-match road trip with a pair of midweek matches in Abilene, Texas, as they square off against Hardin-Simmons (March 7) and Abilene Christian (March 8).
