ABILENE, Texas – The New Mexico State women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision on Wednesday to Abilene Christian at the Eager Tennis Center. The loss moves NM State to 4-6 on the year as it now heads home for a four-match homestand.

The host Wildcats went up early on the afternoon, taking the doubles point with wins on courts No. 2 and No. 1. The Aggies' No. 3 doubles pair of
Lindsay Harlas and
Gabrielle Joyce was able to finish their match the same time as ACU clinched the doubles point by besting Ansley Boarman and Jordan Henry 6-4.

Marie-Pier Thiffault looked to force a third set against her opponent on court No. 3, but fell short 6-3, 7-5. Abilene Christian took a 3-0 lead soon after when
Gabrielle Joyce was bested by Autumn Crossnoe 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

The Wildcats clinched the match on court No. 4 when Harlas fell to Sarah Adams 6-2, 6-1. ACU picked up two more points with wins at No. 5 and No. 2 singles before
Rimpledeep Kaur bested Erin Walker on a tiebreak 3-6, 7-5, 10-6.

The Aggies now return to the NM State Tennis Center to host four-straight home matches. First up for NM State will be Iowa State on Wednesday, March 15, at 2 p.m. That match will serve as the first meeting between the two programs. Following its match against the Cyclones, the Aggies will host the first WAC pod (March 17-19).
