ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Following the Wildcat Classic, Tatyana Battle and Ariadnne Sierra were named to the all-tournament team. Battle hit .230 with 28 kills and 28 digs over the weekend. Sierra posted 54 digs and also recorded a 15 assists. These are the second-straight all-tournament honors for Battle and Sierra. The duo previously received all-tournament honors for their performances at the Borderland Invitational.
RANKING THE AGGIES
Nationally, NM State ranks 14th in opponent hitting percentage (.139) and 26th in digs per set (17.40). New Mexico State also ranks 35th in team attacks per set (37.58), 52nd in assists per set (12.91), 58th in kills per set (13.65) and 75th in blocks per set (2.33). The Aggies also lead the Western Athletic Conference in opponent hitting percentage, assists per set and kills per set.
Individually, Sierra averages 5.28 digs per set which ranks 28th nationally and second in the league. Brielle Sterns averages 1.00 blocks per set, which is tied for third in the conference. Lia Mosher also ranks in the top 10 in blocks per set as she averages 0.89 for seventh in the WAC. Natalie Mikels leads NM State with 12 service aces and averages 0.28 aces per set which ranks sixth in the league.
LAST TIME OUT
NM State went 1-2 at the Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., last weekend. The Aggies fell in three sets to Illinois State and five sets to Arizona. New Mexico State's lone victory came against William & Mary when the Aggies defeated the Tribe 25-19, 25-22, 25-12.
In its match against W&M, New Mexico State recorded 45 kills and 43 digs as a team. NM State posted five service aces and did not tally a single reception error in the match. Battle recorded a double-double with 11 kills and 10 digs. She also led the team with a pair of aces. Kassandra Tohm followed closely behind Battle, hitting 10 kills of her own.
KNOW YOUR FOE: UTEP
UTEP enters the match against the Aggies with a 3-9 record. The Miners are on a four-match losing streak, falling in straight sets in three of their last four matches. UTEP's last victory came at the Borderland Invitational when the Miners defeated Delaware State 25-10, 25-15, 25-9.
Amanda King leads UTEP with 266 assists and averages 8.31 assists per set. Macey Austin posts a team-high 136 kills while averaging 3.36 points per set. Defensively, the Miners are led by Niki Cebak, who has tallied 139 digs in her 42 sets played.

Following their match with UTEP, the Aggies hit the road to open conference play. New Mexico State takes on UT Rio Grande Valley on Saturday, Sept. 23 at 11 a.m. (MT) for its first conference match of the season.
