LOOKING AT THE LOBOS
UNM enters the contest against NM State with a 1-0 record after toppling Abilene Christian, 38-14, on Saturday, September 2. The win was the eighth in the last nine games and third in a row for the Lobos.

The victory featured an impressive opening night for quarterback Lamar Jordan who set a career-high in passing yards (213) to go along with one touchdown and 52 rushing yards. UNM was also led by Jake Rothschiller who recorded a career-high eight tackles as well as one sack, a forced fumble and an interception which earned the senior Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week honors.

After four quarters of play, the Lobo defense combined to hold the Wildcats to just eight yards rushing and 4.98 yards per passing attempt.

The Lobos enter 2017 after a successful campaign last season which saw the team finish 9-4 and finish with a victory in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl over UT San Antonio, 23-20. In 2016, UNM also won the NCAA rushing title, averaging 350.0 yards per game.

LAST TIME OUT
The last contest between NM State and UNM occurred on Sept. 9, 2016, at Aggie Memorial Stadium. In front of 17,852 fans, the Aggies walked away with a 32-31 victory over the in-state rival. The win was the first over Battle of I-25 rival UNM (1-1) since 2011 and the first home win over the Lobos since 2010.

NM State trailed by nine with 10:15 left in the game before Parker Davidson nailed a 30-yard field goal to cut into the deficit. Then after an interception by linebacker Terrill Hanks, the Aggies took just five plays to move down the field before the eventual game-winning touchdown as Tyler Rogers connected through the air with Greg Hogan for an eight-yard score.

COUNT ON ME
Quarterback Tyler Rogers made his fourth consecutive start in a season-opener for the Aggies on Aug. 31, against Arizona State. Rogers joins just a handful of quarterbacks to earn that distinction as only Wake Forest's John Wolford and Troy's Brandon Silvers have done the same.

NOTABLES: LAST GAME

· NM State finished with seven sacks in the season opener versus ASU which is the first time the team had five or more since posting five sacks at Hawaii on Oct. 22, 2011.

· Jason Huntley set a career-high in rushing yards (84) against Arizona State.

· Tyler Rogers set a career-high in pass completions (40) and attempts (57) on Thursday versus ASU.

· Dalton Herrington posted a career-high in sacks (2) in the opening game against the Sun Devils.

· Jaleel Scott set a career-high in receptions (8) and receiving yards (149).

· Tyler Rogers was the first QB to make 40 or more completions since current Aggie tight ends coach Chase Holbrook did so against Louisiana Tech (45) on 11/22/08.

· Scott became the first Aggie wide receiver with two receiving touchdowns since Jonathan Boone did so at Kentucky on 9/17/16.

UP NEXT
