LAS CRUCES, N.M. – The New Mexico State men's golf team gets set to close out its fall slate at the first annual Pepsi-Cola Classic right in the team's backyard at the Redhawk Golf Club in Las Cruces, N.M. from Oct. 20-21. Battle of I-10 rival UTEP is the host of the eight-team tournament in the City of Crosses.
NM State and host UTEP are set to be joined on the links by Grand Canyon, Oral Roberts, Southern Utah, UMKC, UTRGV and Western New Mexico. Four of the seven competitors – Oral Roberts, UTEP, UTRGV and Western New Mexico – competed this past week at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate from Oct. 15-16, which the Aggies won by five strokes at the NMSU Golf Course.
Starting for NM State at the Pepsi-Cola Classic is

Tanvir Kahlon,
Mike McGilton and
Hogan Molthan. McGilton leads the Aggies with a 71.8 stroke average and captured the individual title at the recent home tournament. The rest of the squad –

Niall Powell,
Garrison Smith,
Tyler Svendson and
Thomas Tulk – are set to compete as individuals.
The two-day, 54-hole invitational takes place at the Redhawk Golf Club which is a par-72, 7,523-yard layout that was named the No. 2 on the list of 'Best Course You Can Play' in New Mexico by Golfweek in 2018. Each round of the tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. MT on Saturday, Oct. 20 and Sunday, Oct. 21. Live scoring for the event can be followed on

New Mexico State men's golf closes out its fall slate at the Pepsi-Cola Classic. Following this tournament, the Aggies take a few months off before teeing off the spring schedule at the Arizona Intercollegiate, Jan. 28-29, in Tucson, Ariz. on the Sewailo Golf Course.
